Tried the vinyl this time for the teeth. Worked out nice. Little heat and soap and water and they go on well. I use to use a waterslide which did not conform very well. I fixed the file for these now they are accurate over the old version.

Trying some different weathering techniques. I used water base acrylic but then had an issue with it getting under the decals even though it was clear coated. Probably because of the rivet detail. I then tried some powders which seemed to work well but the one I used was in a rust color because they did not have black. I use to airbrush this stuff on but looking for a simpler method. If anyone else has a great idea on weathering, im all ears. Definitely makes the details stand out.

Could use some help on how this weathering looks? I didn't want to go too extreme, just a subtle natural look to bring out the detail. I ended up using the acrylic water base. Mixed half black and half white so it wasn't too dark. Realized I did not clear cote my decals enough the first go around so I sprayed just the decal areas twice then the whole thing then sanded with a high grit then clear coated again and then did the weathering. This method is new to me and I think it came out ok for my first time.

Looks great. Takes me back to the days of building plastic models, and the extensive weathering I used to apply. I used chalks, tempera paints, anything that provided the perfect shade and texture I was looking for. I finished the weathering with a final clear, flat, (or gloss, depending on the subject), coat to even out the layers and provide a protective layer. By the way, whose A-10 is this you are working on?

Why its mr Joes lol. I wish it was mine. Maybe in the future I will have time to make my own.

I painted the false canopy and did a bit of weathering on the engine nacelle today. Just a rough sanding on it with some steel wool. I will take it down a bit more. I had taken it off my jig today with batteries and fans in it. Seemed pretty darn light to me. Maybe we will come in under 27 lbs.

Very nice. Looking at foam ones but seeing them come in and out of stock to include parts has kept me from pulling the trigger. Now these.... I am looking forward to as the research I have done... you can fix them and continue upkeep. However.... I am very new to the hobby. Also thanks for the prompt reply via email....

I'm planning on having the weathering finished up this week and shipping this thing out. Just got back from a weekend at Daytona for my daughters last gymnastics meet so didn't have much time over the weekend to get it finished up. Congrats to my oldest daughter for winning first all around in her state gymnastics meet.

Congrats to your daughter on her gymnastics! I took a trip to Frisco, Texas last month to watch the daughter of some close friends of mine compete at level 8. She is awesome, but she dropped the bomb on her parents that she no longer wishes to compete. She is so good, but I guess her interests have changed... this is her in the middle:

Thanks Jesse. Ya mine is in level 4 now. She started at the beginning of the year and worked her way up pretty quickly. Shes 13 now so she started a bit late but she has her eyes set on the Olympics. Dreams dreams dreams. That's a bummer their daughter quit. Changes in life can creep up on us I guess. I Couldn't ask for anything more. Mine is a Straight A 4.0 student and does all the extra credit. Only problem that comes with that is that she sometimes thinks shes better than everyone else lol.

Wow, that looks amazing. Which fans are those?

They are jetfan 120's. 110's are the ideal size of fan for this scale but you can use 90mm and up. I had a few people with the older version flying them with 90's although this airframe is slightly larger.

Very very soon. I have a couple molds I am modifying and then I will be crackin on the pre orders that have already been placed. Should have the molds finished up in about a week.

As I've said before... Stunning work! How long before you start taking orders for the new version? I have the Roban A-10 on the way to tide me over, but your's is in a class by itself! Also, what paint did you use on the grey/grey version? I need some Hog paint.

Thanks Tim! The paint is a mid grade auto paint. They matched the fs numbers for me. Paint cost was about $300 for this plane. I use to use omni paint when I was in California now its shopline in Florida. They are lower grades of the ppg paints but are still nice. If you can get shopline near you I will take a picture of the codes for you.
