Not sure Top. I read in some earlier post by Scott Marr that it needed a lot blocked off. I just started off with what you see in the picture. I would say about 70% blocked off.
Scott to talked about that they had problems with the main door blowing off when guys used 200 size or bigger turbines. You can see in a video I have of my door pulling open some what at KY jets before I did the mod. I have 8711 400oz servos on those doors. I hope to get a new video since I did the mod.
The more I thought about it last weekend at Hamburg jets event I realized it made a big difference in performance. It did affect the drag a lot. I noticed with full flaps and gear it didn't slow down no where a much as it did before.
I also noted a big increase in speed. I am no kidding when I say it has a better climb than my 1.5 hawk with ram 1000. It's my new favorite of all time.
I hope to make it to Michigan jets this weekend. If I have to wear a gopro on my head to get some video I will.

Thanks jeff
Im well on the way to do some restrictors. My ones will be further inboard and not visible. Ref pics. The pic show a mounting flange ring inside the intake. A restrictor plate will be mounted on it with four 2.5m bolts. This at the plate is removable and replaceable with another. The mounting flange will be glued in permanent. The restrictor plate will be removable.

If I end up not using the restrictors then atleast the mounting flange ring adds some strength and stiffness to the intake, which is quite floppy really at the moment.

I know that Details4Scale has a lot of Skygate Hawk 'scale detail' accessories shown on their website:

Don't know if any are what you're looking for but never hurts to look

You know I bet if I were to put the 180g back in with the restriction in the intakes I bet it would fly really nice. The reason I say that is with the 180 it would take off the same and look the same except ground speed was around 150 mph. I am sure it wouldn't perform as well and it would be a lot better than my first flights on the 180g.
Top I hope you will fly yours with and without the restriction so you could verify what I am see.

servos for operation. The only way to cure the problem is a full bypass but restricting the amount of air entering the fuse helps a lot.

Hello Dos,
I do own the original SG hawk, the comp arf hawk is a lot more prefab than the original SG, and can be built much faster. When viewed from inside, the SG hawk looks far superior to the comp arf, but I am sure they both fly equally well. If not mistaken both can be built under 20kg.
Chatty.

I just got back from another event and we are seeing close to 190mph out mine. I did video it again and the doors are solid. I will post it soon. Also I pretty sure a video of it was taken and will be posted soon.
The biggest gain I am seeing is the performace. I was not sure until now. I put 13 flights on it this weekend at Michigan Jets and I love the performance. I wasn't the only that noticed the performance flying with the restrictions. Now don't get me wrong I may get a second set of intakes to put it back stock because it want slow down no were nearly like it did before the mod.
If you happy with what you have don't put them in. After this weekend I can tell of atleast 3 people that are going to consider adding them to theirs. 1 Fly Eagle and 2 Tomahawks.
I just wanted to pass on a tip that can improve the jet performance not say it had to be done.
I wish you well with yours.

Yours is now flying with a 200SX with no problems. Will go with the stock setup, hopefully should be fine. Got a AMT Olympus HP in mine.
Hope to catchup at JP next month.
Cheers

Here is a video posted from Michigan on Sunday morning. Had to cycle the gear once but after I got the it cleaned up you can see it has great performance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBGcFz9dyjs I really like the scale look of the gear and the doors but I admit you can't see them going up but they look cool coming out.
