[QUOTE=jws_aces;11811162]We took my hawk to First Flight. Got my second flight in and everything worked fine except one of the mains wouldn't fully retract. looking it over for some reason it was touching the fuse with the tire just enough to amp out. It didn't do it on my maiden or when I tested it. I figured it out back home today it was the extra lead to the battery. I moved it to plug directly in to the Down and Lock controller and it doesn't amp out and the gear move a lot faster.

On my second flight I had a flame out but recovered it nicely

Here is are some cool pictures of my 2 Hawks together. One is the 1/5.5 Xtreme from Skymaster that I put 8 flights on there at FF.
[/QOTE]

Hi Jeff, I have Two questions ,Please explain how you did the extra battery wiring for the Down and locked gear and how many minutes of flying are you getting with the stock 5.4 liter tank from comp arf on the Skygate hawk

Thanks

J.C.

I have a 2.0mah lipo hooked directly to the controller for power on the gear. I have 24 inch wire on the down and lock gear. That will allow me plug all the gear in without having to extend the wire.

i have flow it for 6 mins and still have fuel level at the tank seam. I know that is less than half just not sure how much.

I am at the painting stage of my SkyGate Hawk and it will feature the new fin colours. (and a smoke pod!) All that is needed from Ralle are the "50 display seasons" and Gnat and Hawk profiles for the "burst". To achieve this, just paint the fin and rudder white, mask off with fine line tape etc.,and spray on the blue and red. A bit of patience and a sharp 11 blade and done !

There is a new publication available with many photos of the new fin colours and a large number of close-up detail shots of the Hawks as well as an extensive history of the Reds from the very beginning, the Gnats of the Yellow Jacks.

The book is called : Red Arrows, celebrating 50 Display seasons (ISBN 978 -1-909128-22-4)

It is available from WH Smith in the UK for 8.99. Invaluable for any Hawk modeller, Red Arrows or otherwise.

David.

Dear David,
Do you have molds for the belly tank you have done ? I'm also considering on building mine in the Red Arrows scheme and would love to install the belly tank too on it.

Hi David

thanks for the book information. I could not find it in US. but found it on E-Bay from England and bought one. still struggling with making the cockpit work in a way that I could remove parts of it and make the access easy at the field and at flight prep time.

Some progress pics. Almost finished with detailing. The tailormade decal package is just awesome. Just like their paint system. Ralle is also very helpful.
Next step is to lightly clear coat the whole model and then apply some weathering. Then two good coats of matt clear to finish off. I'm taking a bit of a layered approach to the detailing. Let's hope it turns out good.

The hawk just looks awesome when put together.

Help!!!

I got a dilemma I am in. I busted the wing on my skygate red arrows hawk at va. Jets. I hit a taxi light. I have order the replacement wing and small parts to fix it but it is going to be close to Ky jets getting here. More like the week after.

I have talked with my Comp ARF rep and I can get another complete kit here in time to make ky jets but I don't need 2 jets so if there is anyone considering to purchase one and wants a deal I would sell the 2nd kit complete once the wing arrives for a smoking price of $5,000.00 shipped in the lower 48 states and Canada.

I need to order the replacement kit either today or tomorrow to get it in time.

You can reach me by my cell if interested in making a deal at 540-354-8984.

It used to look like this!! Some artist black and brown oil paints do wonders. Rub it all over the model and then walk away for 6 to 10 hrs. Come back and rub off with turps and walla!. You get nice dirty weathering around panels and discover rivets you didn't know you had!!!
i initially wanted a look of an aircraft a couple of yrs out of the factory type light weathering on the model. But once I got going, it was just so much nicer with a real 'work horse' weathered model. My model looks like a 20 yr old aircraft now!! Much nicer. And eye catching. I can't stop staring at the beautiful panels and rivets which have appeared!!!

My SkyGate hawk is being painted and I am doing the fin in the new scheme. I have done it with masking tape (and a lot of time) but when I asked Ralle at Tailor Made if he can do the decals for the 50 years and Gnat and Hawk profiles, he advised me that they are already done and I now have them !

He also has masks available for the main fin colours.

No need for weathering on Reds aircraft, they were immaculate at Waddington last Sunday and their flying was truly superb, best I have seen.

Hi Everyone,

does anyone by any chance have a damaged Hawk landing gear or some parts of it available for sale? I need some replacement parts for mine. I'd also be interested in a new or used complete set. Just PN me.

Thanks

WOW Top that is looking awsome.. Sorry for taking a bit to get back here with a reply. Just got back from KY jets. Flew my hawk with the new 210 kingtech. I got 9 flights on it and man you will love this jet.

There was a Skymaster hawk (1.45) in the pits that was for sale and I didn't see it fly but it looked awesome. Just like yours. I love that paint job. I also can not wait to see J.C.A.s bird for real.

Keep us posted on the first flight.

Hi Topiwala

it looks great. I hope to finish mine and fly it . I got a little burned out and got side tracked with a P20 project. I will get back to the hawk soon.

Hi Jeff

i am glad that yours is flying great. I have the same color scheme but mine will have a 180 RX in it. Hopefully that is enough power. Happy flying.

Hey Jeff, what are your thoughts on the K210 and the Hawk? how are the vertical climbs?? I'm on the process of ordering one of them for my hawk.... and noticed by the spects that it pulls about 6 pounds less thrust than a P200 but it also weights almost a one Kg less or 2,46 pounds, also the cost is a lot less...
Do you have a video with the K210?
