Mike Yep...I had to sell my kit with number of pre orders, so I have Ripmax's one still hostage :-)
Alf. Manual valves work fine, Paul's combined valve saved a channel...worked perfectly. Servos as you say.
More from this morning now I'm clear of show preparation!

Xcalibur with JetCat P80 SE
Hi all,
I like to buy a Xcalibur but I have only a JetCat P80SE. First I want to buy a Boomerang Sprint but the Xcalibur
looks better an even the price is much better.
But when I read this treads it seam´s that this plane is not made for a JetCat P80SE because the diameter
and the weight.
Could someone give me some Information about this.
Sorry for the bad english is´t not my language and thanks for the Information.

The model was designed to only accept smaller case turbines to stop people over powering it. If it takes a P-80SE, it takes a P-120/P-140/P-180 and some might be tempted. Balance would also be a problem with a heavy turbine like a P-80/P-90Rxi. Look at it this way, some people have only small turbines like a P-60 and they were limited on airframes.
But sorry, your P-80SE will not fit

P-80SE is a brilliant turbine, but the Xcalibur is so much better than any of the other twin boom turbine models I have flown, I'd sell it and try to find a used P-100RX

Just about complete, this was going to be my winter project however a week later is all but finished just some small stuff to do. No issues in the assembly two small points I would have preferred the outer wing tube to be a one piece in the fuselage and am going to do mod to make it easier to tuck away the elevator servo extension cable in the top of the stabiliser without nipping the cable. It looks good and well-made and very pleased with it.

Ordered two models for a friend and me and we are both going with Jet Mounts VT 80
I think it will be a nice combo :-)
Specifications:
Guaranteed thrust in ISA conditions: 80N (18lb) at 150.000 RPM
Idle thrust: 4.5N (1lb)
Idle RPM: 45,000
Size: Diameter: 90.5mm (3.56”) Length 217mm (8,5")
Engine weight: 950g (2.1lb) . Including integrated ecu and valves
Installed weight: 1,075g (2,37lb) all included less battery.
Fuel: Kerosene + 4% oil.
Fuel consumption at 80N: 220g/min
Starting mode: Direct Kerosene .

Another great day with the Xcalibur's Paul put a few more flights on his and I took Ripmax's demo model, so we had a set! We only managed one flight together and the camera man was elsewhere!
Even with long wet grass the Xcalibur comes off our strip no problem.

Yes, Wren 80 or VT 80 will be fine, I think I'm going to put a P-100RX in mine, will allow unlimited power and be throttled back most of the time. I'm finding with rolling loops its difficult keeping the energy up over the top with the P-60SE, flight time will probably go up with my throttle management flying style.
Just a case of keeping everything forward. Ripmax's model has NiCad ECU pack, 5 cell NiMH Rx pack and the fuel pump all on the front X mount and only 125 grams of nose weight with the P-60.

Finally had a chance to read through this thread after a manic 2 weeks in Florida doing the Disney Run. Took delivery of the Xcalibur before leaving and only had a quick chance to look in the box before putting to one side. First impressions are really positive. A slightly higher price tag than our Kestrel with retracts but the added benefit of removable wing tips, extra access to the fuzz bay fully justifies the extra money. We will be stocking the model but only have one Sports Scheme available, just to take a look at. If anyone wants one in a hurry I'll let it go same price as Dave charges.

That is about the exact same thrust as the P60 which was in the demo model. I think it will be fine and you will benefit from less weight in the tail so you should be able to build the model lighter overall

Yes, look back our grass strip is less than 300' and the P-60 powers it fine. It takes a circuit to get on the step, but energy retention on the Xcalibur is really good.
It will be fine, yes you will possibly need more nose weight, but the aeroplane will carry it without a problem. You can fit up to 98mm diameter turbines and weight is just an install project. You can search out the lightest servos for the back end and that will save some nose weight too.
