You will need nose weight, Paul has around 300grams in the nose as he has small light weight 2s Li-Pos on the ECU and Rx that he had already, so needed weight to make up the difference. Heavier cells and you will still need around 200grams
I'm going to use a Sensor switch when I do mine and with two packs that reduces weight needed to.

Thanks for that Dave, so the word is get it all up front as much as possible and as one who hates putting anything in to balance that has not a job to do then I will think on this.

Even the model I am flying with Nicad ECU pack and NiMh Rx pack in the nose has a small amount of weight.
Turbine weight will affect this. End of the day reduce it as much as possible, All the Boomers I have flown have nose weight, the Torus had a kg or more!
It carries the weight so add what's needed or use bigger batteries and fly.

Had to happen didn't it

Kings Lynn Model Shop has them for £494.99 with free shipping. Even better value. Also the retracts for £427.49

http://www.kingslynnmodelshop.co.uk/...duct_info.html

I wonder how low this model will go as it is Ripmax and could be available from many distributors !

I'm sure Dennis is hoping for that.

Are you suggesting that a customer could order now for that price and when they come into stock they will receive the model at £200 because I am certain that is the deal with Kings Lynn at their price of £494.99. As you said at the very start of this thread (When I think you were having a pop at Boomerang) these models will be available at several outlets. Thanks for the heads up

I think Hobby King tend to buy from already established manufacturers and then rebrand as Turnigy etc. I don't think they actually make much except the Durafly range and I doubt this would be the sort of plane put into that range

Can someone tell me if this jet is suitable for a grass strip 100 yards long. This would be my first jet and I class myself as an intermediate flyer.

Have a look at the videos posted by Dave Wilshire on this thread and you will see how manageable this Jet is and how it copes with grass and a limited size strip.

Sorry. Whole strip is 120m. Only using the old bit which is 90m. After the first rushed landing, the second take off and landing use 45-50m take off and less ground roll landing.

Paul is hoping for Saturday am.

Ok I started the assembly of the Xcalibur first thing I have found is the rudder servo cut out is for a standard servo. . In the required to complete it says you use mini servos of at least 4.5kg. So why do they not make the servo cut out to fit a mini. So have you guys that have completed the Xcalibur fitted minis or standard size servos?

Take a look at post 81 here on this thread, it may answer your question

Billy, box packed.

As an FYI the booms were supposed to have an opening for a midi size servo, as it is I think it works out OK allowing mounting plates to be glued inside the factory ply mounts, that recess smaller servos further. Just Ripmax wanted a drop in fit as per the instructions

Early morning text from an overly keen Paul saw me rushing to PMFC to observe and photo the Xcalibur maiden...in strong winds!
More photos later as I'm loading a van for Gaydon LMA tomorrow.
Other than a few tweeks to the radio set up, to suit him, think Paul was V happy.

H Dave,

Had you ever experienced this as a kid when you walked into a candy store and saw every kid sucking a lollipop while you are the only left without one?

jepp, nothing is better than cheap balsa, cheap ply, hardware that can not be used and a plane that are sold after some few trips!
