RE: Digitech - Boomerang Nano Gear
Per Sandor's instructions, a hole has to be cut in the nose-gear retract bay floor to accomodate the wheel when retracted. Note that from above, this is the battery bay in the nose of the airplane. It would be preferable if it fit without having to do this, but I think I should still be able to fit a 2100 mah battery pack along either side of the wheel.

Ok - that went pretty well (I think). A couple of items to note:
1) The ''air-up'' nipple is on the opposite side of what is shown in the Sprint manual, so if you were going to loop it, you would have to drill into the front former and not the rear. I did not feel there was enough room for it to loop without kinking and so mine goes straight out the rear former.
2) The brake nipple on mine is on the opposite side of what is shown in the Sprint manual. This puts it on the other side of the trailing link strut and I was finding there was not enough room to run the brake airline as shown in the manual. It was tripping up the gear when it retracted. I have it running to the back of the retract. This is working fine on the bench. Hopefully, it will be OK in flight.
I was not really clear why the extra clearance was needed around the trunion axle, but I did it anyway.
I have not messed with the carbon fiber covers yet.

you could reverse both gears from left to right and opposite so that the connections are in the back instead of the front.
same goes for the brakes , reverse them from left to right and the brake lines will be opposite .

I see what you mean, but at this point, I am not going to re-do it. Call me lazy.
As far as attaching the steering lines to the tiller bolt, do they just get tied around the bolt where the little indents are?

Sandor:
One more question for you please:
The nose wheel spins very easy. One of the main wheels spins fairly easy and one main wheel is much harder to spin. How does one adjust this, if at all?

i dont see al the post always..
loosen the axle that is not running smoothly , move the wheel and brake a bit vertical so it lossens a bit , then screw thight again
99% it is the Brake pad , but dont worry once you roll , the friction will desolve

I sent you an e-mail first, but did not get a reply, so I posted here. It is probably burried in your inbox. It was while you were moving your shop around apparently.
I will try that. Thank you.

I bought the Dubro 2-56 pull-pull kit to use on this gear,
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD858&P=7
are you saying I need the Micro pull-pull for indoor and park flyers? The linkage for that doesn’t look very secure.

Sandor:
I bought the Dubro micro stuff. It is not much thicker than human hair and not too terribly strong. (I think it may be surgical thread, but I am not sure). It stretches out and IMO, is not up to the task. I am not digging this tiller design. Why didn't you put a normal tiller, or at least a hole through the bolt, so that decent sized cable could be used? That tiny little groove on the bolt is not sufficient as it limits the weight of cable that can be used.

As I mentioned, the Dubro Micro stuff was pretty useless. I went to my local fishing tackle store and got some 20 lb nylon coated stainless steel fishing leader and crimps - shown below. This seems to have much higher strength and does not stretch. This seems to be working.
Sandor - I still think the design should be changed to holes that would allow a larger diameter cable to be used and to allow it to attach more positively to the tiller.

however you can not use nylon calbe, .we only use steel cable from dubro.
you could drill holes into it , its not hardened.

RE: Digitech - Boomerang Nano Gear
This seems a bit silly. You are making me pull the information out of you like I was torturing a captured spy. I am now on my third product and about $30 in the hole trying to get the steering set-up and now you are telling me the latest product I purchased is no good (nylon coated stainless steel wire). You also say that you have a product from Dubro that you use that works perfectly. If you do, then why on earth wouldn't you just post a link or part # for that product the first time someone asks about it, rather than playing the 20 questions game . . . is it bigger than a breadbox? . . . is it steel? . . . does it have nylon coating? . . . . is it made by dubro? . . . . is it one of their pull-pull kits? . . . etc.
I am not trying to be a pain in the rear-end, but if you go back and re-read the thread, I think you will see my point.
The problem with all of this is that the dubro 2-56 pull-pull kit is nylon coated steel and is too big to fit the groove in the bolt and the dubro micro pull-pull kit is not steel at all. So, I am not sure how I was ever going to find the right product following these instructions. Please supply a link or Dubro part # for the Dubro product that you use successfully.

You need to use the thinnest dubro pusch pull wire there is.
This fits right into the small carvings at the end of the bolts.
You wrap them around and crimp it , with the crimp bushes that come with them
The throw you will be needing is very little..

just use a thin line , it is enough , these cables have a lot of strength..

I called Sandor to find out what size the e clips are on the front axle (3.5mm by the way) and he offered to send me some free of charge. I got them a few days later and he even included an extra front axle.
Thanks Sandor!
So far so good with these gear.

He even went as far as replacing parts under warantee for my nose gear after I crashed my plane on the second flight. He didn't want
a dime for the parts or shipping.
Thanks Sandor.

these kind of posts make me always happy .
and makes it worth going and develope new stuff.
we just made a new steering tilting arm , this makes it possible that the steering arm stays above the bearers.
this will be mounted from now on on all nano series and new models to come.
thanks guys.
nice booster for me today..[sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Digitech - Boomerang Nano Gear
Greetings Sandor and others:
I have two questions about my landing gear if I may:
1) In the first photo, the red arrow is pointing to a cap head screw on the strut. It seems to me that turning this screw adjusts the tension of the trailing link spring. Is this correct? Is there an optimal adjustment?
2) It is very hard to see in the second photo, but a less-than-perfect landing put some side load on my gear and they are both bent slightly toward one side as indicated by the red arrows. Is there any way to bring these back to straight?
Thanks as always for your help.
Steve
