Default Is a full roll cage needed?

I am going to be purchasing a T-Maxx here shortly and was just curious, do you need the full roll cages that I have seen being sold on E-Bay? I have seen trucks with them and trucks w/o. What do you recommend?

The need for a roll cage depends on how you intend to drive your truck. If you a "Pedal to the Metal" driver and take every corner wide open....then you might need one. If you like to "FLY" your truck through the air doing massive high jumps.....then you might need one. If you think RC Trucks are for destroying and don't care about what happens to it....then save your money since you can damage even a roll cage with enough force put on it in the right place. If your a careful driver....don't race....just drive with other careful friends who also care about there trucks....then you may not need one. It all depends on your style and what you intend to do with your truck.

Good Luck!

Again....it depends on "HOW YOU DRIVE" and how others drive around you. Racing is going tp put your truck in the heat of the battle....so to speak. So....virtually anything can happen when your racing. Also...if your going to race.....keep in mind if you add a roll cage to your truck....then your adding additional weight to it. Not all roll cages are created equal and not all other racers will have roll cages either. If your extremely worried about damaging your components on your truck...and that is all your going to be worrying about.....then maybe for your piece of mind...you need a roll cage. as has been posted here many times....guys who race (I don't).....will tell you that speed is not what wins races....it's the control over the rig that does. However, again....you are also at the mercy of "THE OTHER GUY" behind the wheel so it's your call. Do you need a roll cage? You should probably be the best one to answer that question.

Good Luck!

It's up and running.Pretty good too.
I bought an M-16 Ebay special for $25,it needed a pullstart.
It runs good w/ tons of compression.
The only problem is once it's warmed up and ran for a while it likes to stall when I come off the throttle, like around corners.
Any sugestions on what it might be?

I might go back to my stock TRX15.That seems to be the best engine I own.

I wonder if there is enough fuel line to help keep fuel going to the carb? To short and it can flame out....also...check for tank vibrations.....maybe add some short pieces of fuel tubing to the screws where the fuel tank is mounted to the chassis?

Just a couple of ideas.

Cool.Thanks Crash!
Yep that sounds like what mines doing.I'm going to get some new fuel lines.
My fuel filter was a little dirty, not as dirty as the one in the pic though.
I used those little red O=rings on my GT fuel tank,I may try the fuel tubing.
And I'm at the bottom of my gallon of fuel.

I also put the reverse lockout on.So w/ the spooled rear end its alot less sloppy.
What sucked was I also bought a new forward primary gear and w/ the lockout I don't need it.Wish the dude behind the counter would have known that.
Any way I put new bearings and a couple new gears in the tranny. So it's pretty tight now.
Thanks again Crash,

I found my problem.First my exhaust was leaking so I tightened it up.
Then my glow plug hole was stripped.
I was losing all my compression. So it's back to the TRX15.

At least you won't be wasting more time trying to troubleshoot it.

I can't say as I have never owned an M-16 engine. I did find a link that may be helpful for you to buy a replacement for that engine.
