Picked this plane up off of craigslist for $200.00 built but not great wing was 1/4 inch off square to the fuse have already corrected it with bigger dowels and recenter the holes, plane was originally attempted to be flown with a CRRG 26cc and stalled on take off no serious damage I will be flying it with an EME 55cc, currently replacing all pull pull with golden rods not a fan of re tightening wires and re trimming plane will be re maidened with fixed gear not sinking much more cash in her till I see how she fly's. If all goes well then the wing will be glassed and the plane repainted (previous builder left epoxy fingerprints every where) retracts and scale cockpit will be added does anyone know another source for parts other than Troybuilt they don't have the canopy and mine is ugly (torn and epoxy fingerprints) those that corrected the incidence did the leading edge need to be moved up or down? Would love to see all recommendations and modifications as there is precious little info on this plane on the net. Heres a couple pics

Ok Guys been watching for a while now and finally go well on the way with my build.

The intention is to get her flying and carry on with detailing hopefully to have her fully finished for the First Big show here in the UK Weston Park in June.

OK so here are the pics and the progress so far. My power is from a Laser 300V I don't think this will have any issues pulling this around the sky at a scale speed rather than a reno racer

The start of some detail on the tail area .. more to come re the detail but was easier to put these panel lines on and spray before glueing together.

My Laser install

I wanted a way to access the laser heads from the top so made some access hatches.

I don't I am afraid. I have a video of my ESM La7 with a 300v, but even at the same span its just not as beefy as the fury. Sure goes well though

Nice build! I'm looking into one of these as my next warbird build. I want to put the new evolution 7cylinder 77cc and from what I messured it should fit ok but cooling mods will need to be made. Suggestions?

Owww that will be a tight squeeze. Just measure the inside of my Seafury cowl and its 23.1mm which is .1mm bigger than the dia of the Evolution ... Would definitely be nice though if you could get it in. Re cooling.. make the side cowl flaps functional rather than just for show or you could be clever and create ducts that run through the FW to where the full size had vents just aft of where the exhaust outlets are... Can be seen on this pic.

Your cowl is smaller then the one I measured, weird! The cowl I checked on a buddies sea fury is 250mm wide and the evo 7 engine is 231.14mm so should be good. That's a big difference in the same plane. Where did you measure the cowl? Good call on using the vent behind the exhaust stacks though.

Sorry got my definition of measurements wrong mm instead of cm but the measurements correct. Took a pic for you to show you. You are on about the ESM/YT 40cc Seafury aren't you?

The cowl tapers towards the front and where the cylinder heads sit its probably only just 231mm. You would have to try the cowl over the engine to be sure tbh but I think you will struggle to get that engine in that cowl.

Are you sure you didn't measure the 50cc Fwu Corsair ? Thats a bigger cowl and would best suite this size engine.

Hmmmm, yes it was an esm sea fury but the cowl did not taper that much. I will double check, if I can't fit that engine I might have to go to a bigger fury.

Guys, do you think this would fly on a Saito 182 twin, with twin carbs?

No chance.

Mine is 22lbs and has a Laser 360v. I wouldn't want much less performance than that really.

G’day from Australia guys. I understand that this is an old threat buy hopefully someone might be able to help me. I have just purchased one of these, was hoping someone might be able to send me a Manual for it. I have done some reading and looks like the cog is being set at 130mm but haven’t been able to find any throws etc. Also, has anyone fitted a retractable tail wheel? The kit only came with the fixed leg. Thanks heaps guys

Cant help with a manual or c/g but mine has about 2lbs of lead in the cowl under the engine with a retracting tailwheel. I used a lightweight and cheap plastic main gear unit for a small 15 size model and it works fine.

Controls are very sensitive in general with ailerons and elevators especially being sensitive. I dont have numbers but i probably have only 5mm elevator movement for flying and a tiny bit more for landing. Ailerons probably 10mm at full deflection? cant remember but its not much. Rudder i have plenty of and flaps at least 45 degrees. You need an elevator flap mix in it as the gear/flaps drag the nose down once deployed, which is normal.

In general its a great model but it take no prisoners at the stall so dont attempt long/flat landing approaches or it will not end well.
