Maybe one of you guys can help me with a major problem. On the top wing, top side, in the center is a star. The template I used for this star apparently was of the old stock in which I threw away because of bad glue. Does anyone know of anything that will remove the glue without affecting the paint?

Hi ACERC, and everyone else This is my first post on RCGroups, just wanted to say hi, and that the plane is looking beautiful. My interest in this plane is because of the paint/color scheme. ( I was hoping you would go with the one you picked, I think I recall a post, where you mentioned you might do something diff.) anyway, I did the same scheme for a Pitts in the Realflight RC simulator.I could be bias here, but it came out pretty nice. hopefully, some of you guys downloaded it . It was a very challenging project for me, finding logos and what not. I started it in the 2048 x 2048 pixs. format and after near completion I decided there was`nt the desired detail, so I went to 4096 x 4096 format,(started over) and the detail was a lot crisper. I`ll see if I can figure out how to post pics. Just want`ed to say, looking great, and I can`t wait to see the finished model. Will be watching with much interest

My Feedback: (38)
I have used a "Gum and Adhesive Remover" by Kleen Strip with good success......it is a product for removing labeling and tape residue. I never had a problem with it attacking any modeling paint.....but I always used it a little bit at a time and did not let it set very long. There must be several products of this nature in the office supply department of many stores.
I also recommend "Staying the course!"

Vincent you are the second very knowledgeable individual to suggest Goo Gone. After some research I believe it will work. I will wait until finished with the painting and try to remove the adhesive prior to the touch ups.
Uncletwist, welcome to the thread. Feel free to express your opinion, good or otherwise, I welcome all.
R/CArt, thank you and I will. After getting these results I have a renewed enthusiasm in the ability to get to the end successfully.

Well, if you have Realflight, all you have to do is download it, but you must first have downloaded the original/custom (user created/EA) model that I applied the color scheme too. Look at "Abaser" files. He created the Pitts for Realflight, which I applied this color scheme to. Everything is on the swap pages

BTW Ace, if you want some close up`s for reference just ask, I know it`s not 100% accurate, but darn close. I must have spent close to 80 hrs. researching this color scheme,:example, look at the third pic. above, you`ll see a small star on the innermost blue band on top of the bottom wing,This was hard to find on the internet pics.,but alas, I found it.....

Ace - VERY Impressed. I read your early posts on the why and deciding it was time to build you big "Mac Daddy" plane; I know exactly how you feel. I've been feeling the same about getting onto restoring my grandmother's 64 Studebaker Hawk. Maybe it's time. The video you linked to very early of this model with the Valach 170 is fantastic! That engine sounds delicious!
I'm still missing the look of the NACA Cowling found on it's older siblings, but yours sure looks like it's going to be an awesome beast. I am honestly envious; both of this aircraft and you having a chance to do your "Big beast" build. Congratulations!

I kinda figured you had me beat in the research dept., just thought I`d throw the offer out there. Wish I had your resources when I did my color scheme.... The sky blue logo..??? was a PITA to find any good pic. of. I had to do some guess work with that one..

Pilots are generally a pretty approachable bunch. If you ever need detail shots of any performer's airplane, they're generally more than happy to talk to anyone interested. Only exceptions I've found are Sean Tucker and Kirby Chambliss, who's are nearly impossible to get a hold of because of the ORACLE and Red Bull sponsorships and all the layers that entails, though I did end up talking directly to Kirby at one point.

Stars or no stars, or some stars, what the heck, this is going to be one awsume airplane when it's done. Pretty by it's self doesn't cut it. Robert your doing one whale of a job, ya gotta love it, I do.

Robert,
Looks beautiful! It is going to be an excellent plane when you are done
Here is my 1/3 scale GP Pitts being maidened by my good friend Matt. I have a few issues to iron out on her but it flew nice!
Look forward to your maiden!
