Steve,
Fiberglass spececialties has the fiberglass parts for the Nelitz Cub. You are pretty much on your own for the rest. The fuse has some welded steel tube construction in the Cabin area. You can order steel tubing from www.wagaero.com . You will need alot of birch dowels for the construction and I found an online source for these at a great price in bulk, here is the website
[link]http://www.awsc-online.com/ContentD_d.htm[/link].
I plan on starting mine this coming winter, I bought my plans off of e-bay and I am sure it is probably the same guy you bought yours from. If I had known he was selling copies I would not have bought them from him. The Nelitz Cub is supposed to be the most scale Cub model out there. The construction does not look too difficult but there is alot of plane there
Good Luck!!

Thanks Anthony. I'll probably get started on mine late summer. I wonder if some of the Balsa USA parts will work on this one. They sell a scale aleron kit and landing gear. A guy might be able to use their cowl and windows also. Are you going to build a scale dummy engine? I'll check out the web sites you posted and start gathering materials.

RE: Robert Nelitz???
I will build a scale dummy engine,
I plan on a G-62 for power, that should fit completely within the cowl of the Cub. I don't think I would try to use any BUSA parts for this Cub, once you get your plans you will see how the construction goes, the aileon's on the plans are very scale along with the hingeing. I am sure this is more scale than the BUSA set-up. There is a template for the windshield on the plans along with the aluminum fairings at the wing root. I plan on using .010 aluminum roof flashing material for all the fairing pieces, I have a 25ft roll under my work bench
The landing gear will be a pain in the arse to build but they should look very nice, I think I will construct a welding Jig and have a buddy weld them for me(professional welder). I will have him weld all the tubing for the cabin truss also. I am comtemplating building 2 planes at once, one full wing the other Clipped. The full wing for competition and the clipped wing for fun.

No Problem Steve,
Just drop me a PM and let me know when you get started. I will probably start gathering items this fall and start construction late winter. I have a Taxidermy business on the side and it keeps me busy from November till March[] I think I will make this my last season of doing business, takes too much time away from building planes

Thanks. I know what you mean about work. I'll drop you a PM when I get started. I'll probably get my feet wet on the tailfeathers when I get the plans, if I already have some of the sizes lying around. This should be a year or so worth of fun.

RE: Robert Nelitz???
I know it is a little after the fact, but Bob's J-3 Cub plans are still available from MAN.
#gsp00005 price: $34.95 check out rcstore.com
It was never published in MAN but was featured in the old "now out of publication" Giant Steps book.
I hope you got a better price off Ebay.
Cheers,
GY

RE: Robert Nelitz???
I purchased a set from Model Airplane News, great set of plans. They included the build article from their monthly issue. I haven't started the plane as yet. I think at one time there was a company (maybe Robart) that offered 1/4 and 1/3 scale bungee landing gear.
I put the plan on hold until I had time to figure out how to weld the cabin structure.
The rest of the construction looked easy.
Hope one of you guys start a build thread when you get started.

RE: Robert Nelitz???
I will do a build thread when I get started,
My brother owns a machine shop so I will get him to fabricate the weldments for me. You are right the rest of the consruction looks easy and not too expensive to build.

To LT Pierce:
The next time You talk to Bob, please say "Hello" for me (Jim Messer). I have known Bob for many years, and sold his J-3 and T-Craft plans when I was in business several years ago. Bob will be pleased to know that I have a 40% J-3 Cub 99% complete, 14 ft. span, with a DA-100 engine. It's not up to Bob's building standards, but it is good enough for me. Also, tell him that I have drawn the plans, and made a 35 page, 1-2-3- instruction book, with 200 building photos. All photos will also be provided on a CD for easy enlargement on any computer. Don't know yet how this will be marketed.
Here's a photo of the J-3:

RE: Robert Nelitz???
Hi Steve, sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, "Giant Steps" was a model airplane book of articles, tips and techniques dealing with giant scale models. Several modelers wrote articles and construction pieces for it! I think it was published in the early 80s or late 70s!

To Frank 99:
My Cub and Bob's Cub are completely different - they only look alike on the outside, but the construction is as different as black and white. My instruction book and photos CD's wouldn't do you any good at all.
I haven't even flown mine yet. Plan to do so very soon.
