Just regular epoxy. Brush it on and wipe off the excess with a paper towel.

Use a good hobby grade epoxy. You'll probably want one with at least 45 minutes to give you more working time.
Seeing how it's an electric boat, you can use just about anything but keep it the same type of paint otherwise you could run into compatability problems.

heres the thing. i am not finishing it for electric. i will be putting 2- 3.5 cc marine nitros into it. as it is a dual prop unit. so i really need to know what the name of epoxy is, and do i need to glass the inside of the whole hull? or just where the shafts exit the boat and under the engine....?

well, here is what i have done so far. after 2 days of measuring things, i have finally cut the hatches, doors, vents and side port windows. the hatches, windows, and all doors are goin to be made from thin plexi. the side ports are goin to be green plastic pop bottle . also the hatches and doors are goin to be functional. my next step in this project will be making the floor inside the cabin. and making all furniture to go into it.. i have also around 8-9 running lights going in it. i will be using bondo polyester fibreglass resin to seal the hull. 1 coat outside and one coat inside to fuel proof it. i then will be using automotive spray paint to paint the hull in the colours that i want.

You might want to consider posting your quest for information on the Dauntless on the Scale Boat forum.

I can provide a suggestion on epoxy - I like West Systems Marine epoxy. It doesn't come in small amounts(like a quart is the smallest), but if you have other wood projects it can be used for it is worth the expense.

well after long a deliberation period, i have decided as i am not goin electric, but 2 dual engines , that i am not goin to build the interior of the dauntless.so i am putting in a shallow floor. without furnishings. the floor however will be carpeted and the door goin to the cabin will still be a working door. as will the stairs be in it..

Go to an autobody supply store and get some color additive. Mix it in with your resin, that way you will have the color and resin all in one.

got some of my replacement parts yesterday. what didnt come in the package is my s/s shafts and stuffing boxes. i again phoned tower and told them , they phoned dumas and now i am waiting on dumas to send me out those items. today. actually like 5 min ago i get a knock on the door, its the first order of running hardware and they wanted money... [:@] needless to say i told the lady to send it back to tower. i paid enough for the items and customs wants money? only 17.00 but still at 102.78 on my card that should have been accounted for. so now i play the waiting game.....again[&:]

and now all work on the dauntless has seized. due to moving in a few days.i have done up some airintake boxes on the inside of the boat where i had put the air scoop pieces. but thats all i have done. i also bought some wood filler and envirotex lite.high gloss finish pour on . this stuff should do the trick for sealing the wood.[8D] will post more when i move and get settled in.

Nitro..

Be sure to use at least 2oz. fiberglass cloth on the hull! The hull needs to be reinforced with the glass. If you have any questions about the build drop me a line...

I am running twin water cooled AstroFlight 25's with two Astro 308D Speed controls and each motor is running on a Sanyo 5000mAH 10 cell pack. It gets on plane FAST!

It sure makes a nice looking boat when it's done. I like it better than the Crannberry Isle lobster yacht or whatever Midwest calls it. Is there any information on the web regarding the prototype? It's ahrd to believe these were commuter boats. Seems like you would see some thing similar today if it were truly a viable transport method.

It was a commuter boat for the Rockefellers. Not much of a commuter boat for the rest of us saps!

one question for you pusar. i was told by another buddy to use envirotex to seal everything up. how hard is working with 2 oz glass? i used glass on my 14 ft fibreglass boat for the floor and it turned out to be a mess. i already have the engines to install when finished so i really dont want too much weight. the envirotex is used on furniture to make the surface look like a glass top. seems to be alright. but all opinions are welcome. is there anyone around my area that does glassing? if so pls msg me.
thanks in advance[8D]

Nitro...

Stay away from the Envirotex. Per the website...It is for indoor use and is not reccomended for outdoor use. A boat hull would be the worst enviroment for it. And don't forget in will come in contact with gasoline at some point. The fiberglass cloth takes out the imperfections of the wood planking and adds quite a bit of strength. It will not add that much weight. My battery packs alone weigh 7lbs. and the boat will still plane out. A real boat floor is a big diffference from this hull. Placing the boat upside down the fiberglass will lay on the hull. Pour the resin on and let it soak into the cloth. Use a plastic scraper in a downward motion and let the excess drip to the floor. When it dries get a case of beer and a lot of sandpaper and begin to sand. When the beer is gone and the sandpaper is shot... get more beer and keep sanding! A bit simplistic but it is not that bad.

If you don't like using polyester resin with your glass cloth try using epoxy resin. Adding microballons to the resin mix will make easier to sand.
