Help, midwest paint
Guys I am building the static model of the midwest "muscongus Bay Lobster Smack"
I bought the midwest paint kit, and it worked fine for the first boat, but now the instructions says this one needs "floquil" paint for some reason? Is the midwest paint kit, floquil? Do I have to buy all new paint for this type of model for some reason?
I also have Z-spar captains varnish
-thanks

RE: Help, midwest paint
As long as your paints do not have any bad chemical reactions to each other you can use any paint you want.
I have heard the order to be Laquer, enamel, acrylic...
If you layer the paint sovent type in a different order, the Laquer will attack enamel and acrylic.
Or the enamel will attack the acrylic.
If you are unsure of the solvent type of your paints, paint a scrap piece of material and do some testing.

If I remember right "Floqil" makes a lot of colours used by model railroaders,It may be that they recomend it just for the specific colour or shade.
Other than that I don't see why you could'nt use any paint you want as long as they are compatible with each other like Umi said.
