RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread
Hi, just joined the site after reading your guys' info on diff hop ups. Thanks for the info. I just bought a Mugen MBX5T Prospec, O.S. V-Spec EB Modded because it adresses the bearing failure issue plus more power, and Jammin JP3 Pipe. I am gonna be taking it in to my shop tomorrow so one of the guys can show me how to heat cycle the engine for break in tomorrow. This is by far the Gibson of RC's I am happy with my choice and will be sticking to high quality kits now.

i want to be able to tell what truggy is mine on the track,
we are getting alot more prospec`s every week at the track and
i`m checking out everybodys set up and asking alot of questions.
my LHS told me he`s getting more engines in next week and i`m saving up my $ now.

Nice paint and plastic sheme! My new paint job lasted about ten minutes after I threw my truggy into the rumble pit today. It kinda sucks, to get your body all nice and sweet, then beat the heck out of it. BUT I would never jump my truck farther than a triple without a body protecting the valuable guts. This is a VERY durable truggy I might add. If I were racing anything else today it would have broken about three separate times but these Mugen's are tough.
How do you guys put pics into the body of the posts? Do I have to have an upgraded account on this site?
Mugen MBX5T Prospec, EB Modded V-spec .21, Spektrum DX3, JR Z9000T, Jammin JP3 pipe, JR 650 , spektrum SR3001 pro.

FYI orange truggy guy, I didn't go with an easy tuning Ninja motor because I heard that the piston rods where succeptable to breakage. I also heard with the V-specs that the have bearing failure issues. I bought the EB Mod V-spec because they use aftermarket ceramics and refaced the crankshaft for more low end torque. You might wanna research that, if so, you might wanna replace the rod so you don't chew that pretty little motor.

The Ninja engine is very popular. Far more popular than the stock V-Spec was, because it had so many problems with the bearings and all. He already has a V-Spec engine, and a Ninja. I'd take a Ninja engine over the V-Spec any day

MiamizFinest, I've also just put the Mach 427 in my 5T. I think it's a great engine for the money. Anyone else run the Mach 427 in their 5T?

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread
I have a choice of motors to put into my MBX5T prospec kit I have a Novarossi PT-21 P5 SX which I'm thinking of having modified by EB mods or a brand new STS Dragon 21T that I scored off ebay for 125.00(this buy the way is a factory race team hand built and modified motor fully ported and polished and the crank is apoxy filled) or a Trinity .28 Draked motor I thought about getting the Ninja .28 but they are pricey and my question is will it out perform any of the previous mentioned motors.
What are some of the motors you guys are using? and have you tried any of the motors I have mentioned?
I'm also thinking of getting a tuned pipe from Dynamite they are $49.99 on ebay for a hard anodized pipe with a CNC tip have any of you guys tried this pipe? the price is great it looks just like a JP actualy it looks a little better. My question too is what type of pipe does this truggy need a low end mid range or high end pipe? yah I know it will depend on the motor but what I'm thinking is because of way it is designed.
I have not put my truggy all together yet I went and bought a lot of servos off ebay for 50 bucks I scored I got 3 traxxis 2055 (which I can care less about and will put on ebay to recupe some of my cost) 2 JR Z590MG 1 Hitec 645MG and a trick titanium gear Hitec HSR 5995TG. I'm thinking of running the HSR5995TG for the steering servo and the Hitec 645MG for the throttle/brake
I also found some servos off ebay I got 2 of them for 20 bucks shipped they are Tower pro digital corless MG995 have you guys ever tried these they are dirt cheap they claim they produce 208 oz/in at 6. volt and a .13 second at 6 volt sounds like they are pretty decent but do they hold up and perform well?

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread
hey guys
i`m done with my build and i started painting the body last night.
just as i got done painting the body outside in my back yard.
i went inside to take a shower and i left the body outside to dry.
just my luck it started to rain. needless to say my body looks like #@%^.
i`m going to try and sand it and paint it again.
i ended up using a hitec 625 for T$B and a 5995 for steering.
i can`t believe how fast that 5995 servo is. it turns my wheels lock to lock
with the truck on the ground no problem. i heard the 645 for T&B is alittle on the slow side.
i`m still in the market for an engine and pipe.

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread
one more thing.
last night after my rainy paint job.
the last part of my build was to build and install the servo tray.
i got it all together and when i went to roll the truck iit wouldn`t move.
i found the spur gear hitting the carbon fiber tray. anybody else have that problem?
i had to grind off like 1/8 of an inch of the CF to clear the spur gear.

Mines close, so close I was worried about it hitting. Maniac is right, bet its installed wrong, although Im not sure how it would be done. I'll have to see what happens when I take mine apart after the race tonight.
Good thing, ebay has them pretty cheap or the king hedz tray to replace the stock one.

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread
Do any of you use the Mugen hubs that aren't extended? I've swapped them out and noticed I'm nearly an inch narrower. Could this help make the 5T more agile? Would a combination of the 2 hubs be beneficial in any way? Such as, extended in the rear and narrower standard length hubs in the front?

Here is a link to the description of my motor... blueprinted, balanced, etc. It adresses the bearing failure issues in stock versions of the O.S. V-Spec motors as well as having the high power and runtime I wanted.

My truggy is my favorite toy. It reminds me of the pitbull flying skateboard off of Back to the future 3.
