You want scale, build a real kit... you want simplicity and functionality... go with topflite.. topflites whole thing is for those that want simplicity and not complicated models. If you have the time to modify these ARFS, why not build a kit if you want accuracy. These models weren't ment to be scale as this cost and its all about the numbers. There are so many imperfections in this ARF that you'll spend more time fixing them then building a correct kit..
I enjoyed building the one I did but kept it simple knowing this. Why spend the money fixing someone else's design that you paid fo knowing.. it's one thing to modify little things but it's a whole can of worms to change a design.

Ramstein 44 would know what constitutes too many mods to an ARF, since he's been there a few times. I own the one he documented early in this thread, and even though the wing has not been modified (dihedral) the SIerra gear still seems to stand up fine.
I did get some new "Hardened" trunions for my other TF FW190, but haven't been able to test them out this year due to some engine issues. Robart claimed they would break before they bend. Since I have the dual trunion mod, I doubt very much they would break. I'll let you all know how they work out when I get it into the air and hit some landings.

Interesting find, wonder if they were measuring the top of the wing which would be very close to the diagrams I have (approx. 4.8 deg). I say that because Top Flite's first answer to me was 10 deg, which made no sense, so I pushed back and they responded with the answer I posted stating they measured the bottom of the wing and combined the values. Definitely complicates it with three ways to measure dihedral in use!
The drawings from "Aircraft Archive: Classics of World War II" looks to be sourced from A.L. Bentley (http://www.albentley-drawings.com/dr...w190-a5-a9-fg/). Exact match to the Wing Geometry image on the page (low res version of it: http://www.albentley-drawings.com/wp....Wing-Geom.jpg). Notations on the drawings state that all dimensions show were obtained from official Focke Wulf drawings, reports, specifications and data sheets.
I'd share a more detailed scan of it, but I'm sure he put a lot of work into it just to have it shared for free.

I have a question for the people with the Saito FG84, but everyone is welcome to chime in. When mounting the engine you cut a hole into the firewall and the carb (or at least part of it) will stick into the fuse. Do you build some kind of enclosure around it to prevent fuel "spitting" into the fuse or just leave it open?

Bruce took my payment on 2/16/2016 for his Century Jet gear and I still don't have them. Pretty disappointing. I had heard good things about CJ's customer service. I am not impressed at all. If I don't receive the gear soon I will try getting in touch with Bruce and ask for a refund.

I contacted Century Jet for a picture on the 9th. They got back to me right away claiming they would send, but it never arrived. I've followed up, but no response. Starting to question if they are really just selling vaporware.

Looking on the CJ website there are 10 in stock I have ordered on from the UK but I am a little concerned that nobody has received any and there are no pictures. I only ordered them because they drop straight in and the Robart ones are rubbish ( I had two flights with them and they are bent already with no bad landings) so I have my figures totally crossed that I haven't made a really bad decision

Can anyone tell me if this bird has a little up thrust built into the firewall? I taxied it around today and it sure looked like the engine was pointing up just a hair. Could be an illusion too, but I did cut the firewall back to mount the FG84 and I measured many times before cutting to not mess it up.

OK according to the agent in the UK for Century Jet my new retracts are being shipped today so should take about a week until I get them and then I will post a picture

Well, did my maiden flight today. Was surprised at how good this 190 flies. This is my first GS. Before this my heaviest plane was a GP Waco at around 13lbs. Anyway got a couple of flights in and last landing didn't go well. It was a little rough and I nosed over (too much flaps I think). It happened fast and not sure how, but I saw one of my retracts flying off the plane. Looking at it I saw the trunion broke. No bent pins though and nothing else broke, even the prop is fine. Not sure what to make of it.
