I have a brand new topflite fw-190 sitting in my attic, I haven’t touched it for 4 years. I am disappointed in the landing gear and was considering selling it as I didn’t want to buy the robart gear. But I am going to go for it as soon as this corona nonsense it back to normal. I like the look of the Sierra gear.

Top Flight FW 190 with Saito SAIEG90R3
Hello, I have been following this thread for a while. I'm building a TF FW190 with the mods that are discussed in this thread. I've added a Saito engine Siera landing gear with tail wheel. I've cut back the fire wall to mount engine and use 1.0 spacers in mounting the motor. I have removed all the covering and have bought .75 oz. fiberglass and Z-pozy to recover the model.
My worry is that the weight is adding up very quickly and I wondering how the model will fly. Can i get some feed back from any body that has done these modes particularly the addition of the Satio engine. How dose the model preformed with all these mods ? thanks
Regards

I need a canopy for my FW, I see that they have been discontinued on all of the sites. Would a Don Smith FW-190 canopy fit ? They are still available .Or I may have to modify it or scratch one up......any thoughts?

mine weighed in at 30lbs and flew like a dream...I put over 200 flights on it and sold it to a fella in Tulsa and he added a DLE 85 and flew it another 200 flights. It had Robert gear in it and they never failed. Your mods are all good ones just make sure you hysol the new gear mounts in well and you’ll love the plane

Picked up a TF FW 190 this last winter. The monkeykote jumped off and ran away from this plane fast! Glassed, and painted in an A-0 variant. Scheme close enough to compete with. RCGF 60 cc twin, but looking to replace with an EME 70cc (any ideas how much power this engine has?) Replaced gear with Sierras, and all seems right with the world now after 5 flights.
Good before after pic. Actually my clubmate buddy's in stock film scheme, next to the glassed painted variety. Best pilots Gunther Rall, painted by Lyle himself.
