What happened to TF FW 190 discussion???? Now it's a smorgasbord of hodgepodge [X(]
You know how it goes, it's been flown and the basic information is out there and that's primarily all that was needed to be seen... Now it's on to sloppy seconds, thirds and so on. I'm just hoping to see someone bring out the potential of the ARF! Maybe some cool designs and fabrications. What I don't understand is that, some ask for a larger FW190 and then are just happy with putting it together and flying it instead of making it you own. Now I know there are the few that this is exactly what they want but I don't know, for 800+, I don't want mine to look like the next persons regardless. Different engine installations are coolest when heard and Kissing it (keeping the facts simple) not a engine forum. Did it fit?? what changes were made for it to fit and so on..

We all know it flies well stock but whatcha going to do different to its appearance.. What did or are you doing to make it "better". JMO

Maybe I should get an ASP400 and bolt it to this airframe.
However, seeing as a local club mate has this plane and has had some bad issues with the robart retracts bending(hes quite experienced), Id have to also do the surgery to put Sierra's in the wings.

That'd be one expensive plane:
$700 ARf
$800 engine
$600 retracts

I don't think some of you guys realise just how fortunate you are to be able to get these toys. Forget price - just to be able to get your hands on one is worth 500 bucks more down here.

And I suspect there's ppl in other Countries who'd pay twice as much just to be able to get one.

I'd pay a grand right now to finally own one of these *&#@ing things - but scant chance of that.

Looks like I'm at the back end of the queue to even go close to a sniff - be grateful that you can even get one... let alone at less than half the price they are down this way...

It's already on Horizon's site but no parts & accessories showig yet. I want to see the pistons. Unless they are different compression hieght than FA 180 it will be very low compression.

If they are higher compression, I might just have to bolt 180 pots onto my FA450 & make an FA540R3D CDI. That sucker would make over 8HP on methanol.

Two More Pieces to the Puzzle
Ok... so now you've got me interested.

What's involved, and what's the cost to convert an ASP FS400AR over to CDI ignition?

Hey - and speedy recovery on the knee-op too, yah?

BJ

The motor bj64 is referring to is a 5 cylinder
I just received an e-mail from Adrian. (C&H Ignitions)

He will soon have single module/single hall sensor ignition systems for 5 & 7 cylinder radials.

Does anyone know where to get the best price in the Sist 1/5 scale A-8 cooling fan/spinner?

I found one fiberglas/carbon version for $168 + P&P.

If I remember correctly the Sist was aluminum & quite a bit more.

It's been slow progress but I'm getting able to spend more time on my feet. The knee replacement recovery is progressing slowly but surely.

I got a little clip shot of my totally electric Robart retracts. The TW retract functions via the electric jackscrew actuator mounted forward in the servo bay.

The right retract & TW are on "delay" but there is a lag in the right main retract motion due to the screw taking up the lock slack. That makes the TW seem to operate sooner than the right main.

Since the full scale Wurger did not really stagger the mains on retract, I think I'll put the mains on the same timing W/the TW delayed.

That way, the TW will not start to retract until the right main has been able to come part way up.

The full scale TW was operated via a cable on the right maingear.

Ahhhh, the "accessories" page is "under construction".

I just want to double check the price of the SisT fan. If I remember correctly, the fan alone was nearly as much as the fan/spinner combo pictured above.

1/5 scale FW190A spinners ain't cheap.

Well we do have the VAT (19% in Germany) add on it the price. It is like sales tax in US.
The diameter is 144mm
And the cone is CF as well

By cone, do you mean it cames W/a spinner @ €139? That's not much more than the other & the SisT has a CNC machined aluminum fan does it not?

I might go that route if it's €139 for both the spinner & fan.

Can you please post a link to the "german" page?

Srtele, I believe I answered these questions earlier in the thread when I posted the fan unit with my FW190, I know I had several PM,s on the issue. The fans are composite /resin type material wrapped around a aluminum back plate and the spinner itself is carbon fiber. If you're seriously interested in getting one, you will pay for it and the best reliable resource again is from Fighteraces.co.uk. Talk to Phil. He's a great guy and can answer all of your questions. Companies aren't carrying them as often as these were designed for the SIST as I'm sure you know and the 1/5th scale SIST kit's are far and few between due to the 1/4 scale kit take over.

I got rid of mine as they don't have a lot of weight to them and wanted a heavier spinner so I don't have so much lead in the nose. And this plane to me just wasn't worth it since it comes with a decent spinner for the money.
