So what's the right size?
Full scale has a diameter of 32" so the TF airplane would need a 5 1/2" wheel to be near scale.

Hopefully you didn't make the same mistake as I did and only order one. I'm sure you didn't.

I trimmed 2D for the 3/8 x 1/2 landing gear rails as BobT recommended. Thinking about gluing the rails in now before gluing the rib laminations 1 and 2 to the spar. Then I would drill and insert / glue a few 1/8" dowel pins through the rib and landing gear rails.
Would be much easier to do that before hand. Any thoughts on this?
thanks

Steve
As we say in meenesota you-betch-yaa, the only thing just don't line the dowels up so the mounting screws for the L/G goes in to them.

Thanks Jim. Nice pic. Very helpful.

Since Hobbico hasn't come through with delivery of my new center spar pieces I started on the outboard wing panels.
In the middle of that FedEx showed up with my new wheels !! Sweet….

Feel free to post any more high detail shots you may have. They help in having accurate panel lines and what not. Thanks

I second that. The more the better.

How many are actually still building this plane? I realize the thread was started many years ago.

Steve, if you haven't checked Michael Radu's thread you may want to. His started as the ARF but he stripped the monokote and added tones of detail. Very good stuff.

Here's a couple of the wing radiators in case you don't want to go with TF's cheesy plastic ones.
I'm still working on mine but haven't made any real progress. I've got all the robart electric retracts and a fiberglass cowl but I've been side tracked with getting my PAU extra ready for IMAC season. Also planning on cutting out some G10 main wing spars. Also need a different canopy. the top flite canopy is just not right so that will just have to go. I may purchase the hanger 9 canopy if not make my own.

If anyone has any particular requests for images I have a lot.

Wow….shame he sold it…and not to me !

Hobbico did not come through with my center spar parts yet soooo.. got both outboard wing panels built.
drilled the landing gear mounting blocks and installed 1/8 dowel pins through them into the rib
I can post pics if any body would like to see progress.

Alos placed an order for the Ziroli Corsair canopy. I'm going to try to fiberglass canopy frame as MRau shows on his build.

Still waiting for Earl Aune tailwheel as well. I will likely being selling my Robart tailwheel (AIR) if anybody is interested.

I second that. Plus, like Bob says, an extra set of eyes can help save a lot of effort down the road.

Ok then. Got wing panels finished for the most part. One thing I did in my 35% Cardens when I needed "tubes" I use Estes rocket tubes. They are light weight and look way better than a rolled up piece of paper. Maybe this isn't a secret but thought I'd share. You can see them if you zoom a little.

How does a shop go from zero to tornado disaster area so quickly? Today the Corsair assembly line was shut down for a good cleaning.

Nice shop steve. I'd kill for that much real estate. I'll admit, I'm a bit of a shop snooper. I like to look around people's shop pics. You can tell a lot about someone by the shop they work in. I now see, from the right side of pic 1. Why you call yourself IBow. Nice bow.

haha… Thanks. It comes from my email address I've had since the mid 90's ibowhunter@aol Long before Apple had iPods, iPhones, Ieverything. I should probably sue them.
The bow is a Matthews Heli-M. The left side of the shop pic is my bow press and cabinet for all my hunting/shooting supplies. The rest is dedicated to model building.

the bowhunting corner of my shop.

I have no idea why it's rotating some of my pics ???

I am like the other Steve on shop space, but when we built our current house with my shop I thought I had plenty of space, then I started building war birds and boy did the space shrink. some ware back in this thread are pic of my shop and I don't think I would post them again. my best 2 flying buddies I call them neat freaks, then they come over and wonder how I can find anything. that tell my story.

Steve on the tubes they look good but you do realize you have to put the wire behind the aft spar to get past the wheel wells, Just a heads up.

Good catch Bob, the tubes aren't glued in place. I just set them to test the fit in the hole at the servo bay rib.

Steve
I just hate making 2 steps forward and 3 back That why I keep preaching/telling guys always read 5 steps ahead of what you are working on.
It's just the way this grumpy old bugger works

Cheers Bob T
