Well I try to put in about an hour each evening after playing nurse for the wife and doing my chores, if I did not do this I would never get anything done I don't watch much Tv as well. But was luchy and had the whole week end off so was able to get a lot done, hope to get my new muffler from Bison this week, and other bit for another project.
With luck will get out wed afternoon/evening to fly.

Cheers Bob T

Hi George GOOD to hear your getting to the point of a maiden, what prop are you using ? as i have found my 62's like 22 X 8 Xoar's the best, finally have all the paint on now it's the stars and bars then the nomenclature bits for looks, reinstall most of the innards check them out, then balance and I think mine will be ready for a re maiden. while this is going on finished the rework on the 47 just have re check the balance, and it is done along with a re ring of a 26 CC engine in my 300, Also got my RCGF-62 back and in the Weeks and 40 min of break in time so now if the weather will line up with my day's off I may just get some more flying in.

When you go for your maiden PLEASE get a bunch of pic's

Houston we have a problem,
RT got the engine to run but it wouldn't stay running,. evidently when I mounted the engine I did not take any precautions to protect the carb,as we found some crap in the carb,so we removed it and now its soaking in a solution my flight engineer has at his house. so hopefully this takes care of the problem.
I'm using a top flite 22x10 prop. I think that's what the book calls for. will do RT on the pics and hopefully a video

Back when I first started flying my Corsair I tried several different prop brands and pitch combinations, trying to get into the center of the engine performance curve ie: 7,000 to 7,200, tried top/flite, Zinger, Falon, Master airscrew, and xoar in the following size 22 X 6, 22 X6/10, 22 x 8, 22 X10 and 2 20 x 10, 20 X12 I check and or balance all of my props and none got me more then 7020, and do to our sound problems at our field we I did a sound check on each prop sides and in front at 9 feet the loudest ones were the Zinger and Top Flite , I thing because they flex a bit more at the tips than the others.

George if you would like to try what I have left of them I would be happy to send them along to you at no coast as I most likely will never need them.

Cheers Bob T

To All,
questions regarding servos for the "TOP FLITE GIANT SCALE CORSAIR KIT,"
If you went to Towers web site and typed in top flite giant scale Corsair kit and then went to tech notes it reads
3 standard servos 1- tailwheel, 1-throttle, 1- retracts, and 7 - 45 oz. minimum for elevator,rudder,ailerons,flaps,
how many of you out there have used whats recommended per the tech notes?

My 2Penneies worth IF you bird is under 30 lbs, most likely they would be ok, as long as you are using a 6 volt bat/pack. But as I tend to over build and my bird I went to a step up and all metal gears, except the throttle

Rule of thumb I use, date the kit, then look at what was used back when it was designed. Chances are the servos were about equivalent to say the Futaba 3004 standard servos. The 3010 servos will work fine in this bird, and you dont need digitals, standard analog servos are all you need, you aren't looking to perform pattern contests or 3D with it. The 3010 are plenty torquey and fast enough for just about any warbird. If you want metal gears, Hitec HS648MG (I think, dont have it in front of me) are more than enough.

On my F4U I'm using Hitec HS5645 servos. Out side of the high torque on 6 volts if you have the Hitec programmer you can reverse them where needed. like the Flaps or elevators, ailerons.
Throttle I'm using the HS645 MG . Hope this helps. John Taylor Corsair Brotherhood #96

Hi Todd

I am not sure, but I don't think so, but if you have the time look at post one it has an index, then skim in the pages for landing gear and as I recall there is a set of dwg's to make your own, and they look scale. Becouse I was past that point I just extended the post on my Robart and I still get the tail wheel in when retracted

Todd, here is Earl's e-mail. They took down the web sight as it was too much to keep running. [email protected] . The last tail unit I got from him was for my AD-4 Sky Raider. John T.

Shaun, Can you send me picture and price via PM?

Does anyone one know if they are a drop in replacement for the stock Robart tail wheel, and if not is there a lot of work to put them in?

plane is already built and has been flying for years.

Todd, When I built the kit version of the TF Corsair I had to modify the tail section to accept the bracket that makes the unit retract. The unit is 2 3/4" high and 1 3/4" wide. The holes are 1 5/16" apart. The arm that makes the unit retract goes up into the tail and that makes the height about 6 1/2". Also there was 4 blocks which I glued on to the main support rails where the Robart unit would attach to. I can't do photos on this computer otherwise I would take one of my unit and send it to you. Sorry but hope you get a idea of how it goes. Hopefully Shaun can send you a photo. Good luck in your modifications. John Taylor Corsair Brotherhood #96

RT,
Progress finally made in running the engine, first tank a little rough going with the 22x10 top flite prop took a while for it to stay running may have been too much prop & carb not set
2nd tank carb setting was not really tuned in, but we did tach it and it read 7400 rpm and that was with the 22x8 prop you sent to me.
and the 3rd tank carb almost tuned in engine ran the whole tank 24 0z. for 18 minutes and at full throttle tach read 7500 rpm with the 22x8 prop, tepmerature out there in the hot sun was hitting 90. All in all we are really pleased with the performance. some minor adjustment to be made and we can do it again.

Hi George

With what you posted it sounds like you are ready for a maiden, So good luck with that.

PS double check your balance, just a thought

Steve & RT

My friend Ron, has checked everything for me, he suggest we run a couple more tanks through it and wait till we get a little cooler weather, he has a G 62 and with all the help I have gotten from him I'm listening to his advice, but we will check the balance once again RT and Thanks for that. Like I said in an earlier post there are a few minor things I need to do.

With the flying season withering away I figured its good a time as any to dust off the corsair and get back into it. Can anyone post a close up or two of a finished wing tip? It would sure be appreciated. Thanks, Steve.
