I've got a Funtana 90 with a YS-110 still hanging around and it has the 3305's on it since I couldn't find a servo with similar specs at that price point back when I put that model together. It's mostly designed as a 3D model and I don't fly it very fast so those servos have worked out pretty well, but the slop in the deadband is really evident if you grab say an aileron and wiggle it with the model's rx turned on.
Were I to do it again, I'd look at the JR Sport 126 servos which have a similar price point, MG, similar torque and speed specs but a MUCH tighter deadband. If you've not already bought the 3305's, I'd look at the 126 JR's.
JMHO, YMMV....
Just went and looked since they can be a bit hard to find on Horizon's website but the ST126MG is a bit faster, a little more torque and $3.00 more than the 3305's.

I already have the 3305's in another plane I was going to take them out of. Since yesterday I have done some thinking and am probably going to go with HS-645MG servos. I'll just have to wait to buy them.
Thanks for the help!

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Update on my build. Yr 3 I made a commitment on this thread to finish her this spring and I am on pace. I will throw up some pics in the next couple of days. I have finished up the fine tuning of the flaps and have the fuse glassed. I have to finish up the trim tabs, glass the stabs and she is ready for paint.
I only have the initial coat of glass on her so the weave fill is first. I am planning on using automotive primer crossfire 15200. This is thick stuff and will fill the weave and allow me to sand smooth very easy. I am still contimplating the finish coat paint type. I am wanting to use exterior house latex. My uncle is experimenting with spraying latex. I am painting it with him because I don't have the equipment. He has had bad luck trying to spray latex but we are going at it with some new tips and trying some samples. Anyone have some suggestions?

Devens, as soon as you get some 80 plus weather and low humidty the latex will work better for you. Takes a long time to dry otherwise. Also keep your heat gun you use on plastic coverings handy. If you get a run in latex you can put some mild heat on it and almost always shrink and dry the run to where it want show up.
Primer is your biggest culprit in making a paint job heavy. Try to sand as much off as possible leaving just enough to fill the weave.
Have you looked at Roy Vaillancourts site for tips on painting with latex www.vaillyaviation.com

Absolutely true and i agree NCIS!
I, however, don't have access to beautiful machinery such as yours and I am building a 1/8th scalish F4U right now and didn't see anyone offering such a small size.
Cheers

Devens,
Take a look at Model Master a little pricey for each bottle, but I did my whole plane with it using an airbrush and you saw the results.
If I had to do it again I would not change it.

Okay Guy's, I need help! I would like to put in the gun bay door's but can not seem to find anything for size reference. Does anyone know where I can beg, borrow or buy any picture, drawing, or sketch with panel lines, hatches, rivet's etc.etc. I must not be looking in the right places so please point me there!
No I'm not there yet. Getting ready to cover the wing's and just working out the detail's beforehand. Did not do that for the canopy, now I have to make a hole to put in the opening hardware. Live and learn.

The T/F is flat enought to clear the 62 with out mods except for removing 1 cylender in front of the engine head, and from what I have read the williams brothers looks better but requires a lot of work to clear the engine. I am sure there outhers out there

Nchrome,
Here is a Frank Tiano dummy radial in mine. I haven't seen the need to remove the center cylinder. It still gets enough air to stay cool. Also it wieghs about 12ozs so It's good for nose wieght.
However I have a ZDZ 80 in mine, so the G-62 maynot be as clean a fit.

I always use full throttle. With a 26 x10 it flys around 85 to 90 MPH and has a really nice prop arc.
No matter which engine you go with , you should always set your speed with the prop for full throttle flying. A mid-range throttle setting can be hard on an airframe. Engine resinance (sp?) is a bad thing. All engines go through this at some point in the rpm range.

Hi,
I'm just finishing off my TF GS Corsair and wondered where most people are setting their c of g?
...anything I should watch out for on the test flight?
Build photos are here ==> http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/dabevan/Corsair#
Many Thanks
David Bevan.

I beleive it is 5-5/8" back. Don't take my word for it wait for Bob or someone to speak up. I do know that the CG in the manual is incorrect so don't use it or you will be tail heavy. What does your bird weight? What did you use for covering?
