Anthony have you had any problems with the supertiger? I like the 149.99 price!

I am a poor man with expensive hobbies!

I have a used 2300 that is one of the old Italian made versions. I have had no problems from it, except getting a smooth midrange with the three-blade prop. It runs like a top with an 18x6 MAS classic. After fiddling with it for a few weekends I have finally got it tuned to have a good midrange with the 3-blade prop. It certainly puts out the power, 8200 rpm on the 18x6 and 7400 on the 3-blade.

Did anyone have gaps when joining the wing halves?? I have a good bit of a gap along the joint and was wondering before I glue what I should or could do to fix it. Or fill it it with epoxy and microballons?

Don't leave it with gaps. Try sanding it to get it as close as you can. Obviously don't sand so much that your root ribs are paper thin. If you still have gaps spackle on some epoxy when you glue the halves together to make sure you fill the gap. I have not tried using epoxy/microballons to build up the low spots first and then glue together. I suppose it would work too.

Hi all
I am just about to take the plunge and get myself this FW190. Just want to have something different from all the Zeros at my local field and I have a shed full of Spitfires, so this should be just the ticket.
Hellcat56 you posted that you are running a Zenoah G26 in yours, that is the same engine I am planning to use. Could you or anyone else give me some details of how that engine slots in? Is yours standard or rcign converted? Please if you can post some pics. Thanks in advance

NoFlaps,
I have bought a 190 and am thinking of using a Saito 125. I see that you are using a saito do you feel that it is enough and is your prop a 2 or 3 blade.

Satio 120 w/ a 2 blade should be fine.
mine's not in the air yet...just glassed my wing last week.
But I'm not anticipating this baby needs more than a 100 in the nose for more than scale flying.

Some of these other guys are using a various array of powerplants & props.
So since we're on this topic, what is everyone else using ?

If I get one I will probably try out one of those 155$ brillelli's.. I hear the customer service is awesome, and they are lighter than a zenoah g 26. I wanna stick it out with my e-power and gas.. This plane would be to beautiful to get oil crud on..

JLS, I think it is between 1/6th and 1/5th. 1/6th scale would be 66.16" and 1/5 scale would be 82.7" That only take the wingspan into account. You can do the calulations for the rest if you want.

Specifications (Fw 190A-8):
Engine: One 2,100-hp BMW 801D-2 radial piston engine
Weight: Empty 6,989 lbs., Max Takeoff 10,802 lbs.
Wing Span: 34ft. 5.5in.
It's pretty close to 1/6 scale if you're using the wing to determine that. 34'5.5" = 413.5" / 6 = 68.91" wing.

I just picked up one of these for $100 delivered, not sure what to make of it yet. I was hoping for a little better outline but it was not to be. I think just removing the large bulges on the cowl and making them smaller, cutting the lower cowl to the proper shape and moving it further aft will make a huge difference in the looks. I may make a canopy for this one, not decided yet. Anyway I have other projects to finish first.

Dion

Luke - The voices in your head are saying:

"You can do it! Build the CMP FW 190 Parts!"

Having been a long time admirer of your work, I hope the peer pressure is great enough! I have the Mustang 140 Size mustang and plan on bashing the heck our of it to get a failry scale P-51/F-51 out of it, also looking at the 120 size corsair too! The gear seems "Wack" and needs to be moved in a bit! For my P-51, Darrel over at www.sierraprecision.com is building me a gear and whe I talked to him, I believe he was thinking of doing the FW 190 gear also!

I have about 40 flights on it using the Magnum 1.20 and a Master Air screw 15X8 prop. So far it flies really good. I can do really big loops and I have plenty of power for above scale flight. I have also managed to keep the weight below 12 lbs by moving the engine and cowl as far forward as possible and mounting the battery in front of the firewall. To balance the plane I only needed 7oz of lead in front of the firewall. The Spinner is a C.B. 3-1/2" Black Spinner made for the P-51. So it has a slight parabolic shape. It is closer to the acorn shape of the real spinners used at the time but not exact.

Landing Gear Update:
The gear is holding up well BUT the servo that I am using is showing some wear. It has lost some of its spunk. I will probably have to get a replacement for it from the LHS in the near future. Also the cheap aluminum gear is still holding up but it has loosened up a bit. In this case it's loose front to rear so when the gear is deployed it has some play. An exiting landing put it to the test the other day when I came in with a strong cross wind. (It Passed)! I ended up riding one wheel really hard for a few seconds I could see it flexing under the strain but no damage resulted..

I would really like to hear from anyone running a G26 Zenoah in this plane.
Can anyone tell me does require 2 elevator servos ?
Do you know where I can download the instructions?
Regards
Spadkun

My house is under construction, so planes are on hold...I've kinda' lost inspiration since I decided to change the LG blocking...
Maybe once the house is one (few weeks) I'll get the inspiration to finish...
All I really have to do is install the LG and paint now.

i just recieved my F-W 190 from raidentech... pretty much same plane. The plane is to go with the Brillelli 25cc gasser, but first have to rebuild wings for air retracts. I've been following this thread and might be contacting some of you by PM. My model will be based on Herman Graf's 190a-5. I will photo the build for my own amuzement and will post pictures on occasion.

LDM,
I opened the box last night, but haven't looked at the wing structure yet, will pull the skin back Monday. I guess that I will fabricate rails.
