Maybe too small of a detail? Looks good to me!
Maybe small Emler's or other white glue spots on top of paint? Might give a hint of necessary texture. Would require a set of tests, of course, to make sure it looks "the part."
Sorry about the oversight, but in my opinion, it's very minor! And at least its 4 steps forward and only 1 back!
Keep grinding, my friend!

Chic,
Awesome job on the masking, brought back nightmare of doing ours... not a clue on what to do other than retape
Here are a couple of pix from our maiden back in 2013 - 14, didn't realize it was that long ago

Perfect motivation - Larry. Thanks. Latest Canopy Photos. Saw photos where the rivet on the canopy were not painted, what do you think. The white part of the canopy does not have rivets on it yet, just the black part. Chic

Thanks Larry. Now that I have observed the rivets on the black for awhile, and even after a glance or word or two from Shirley, I feel that the rivets stand out toooo loudly. Decided that I am going to wipe the canopy down with a "wash" to blend and tone the rivets down a bit. The rivets on the white are not screaming at me as the rivets on the black are. I'll use the same grime/oil/dirt wash over the whole model, especially over all the white painted areas on the model to show that model is not a hangar queen but a aircraft that has flown many missions. It will need age, weather, dirt, and grime - to help give a more realistic appearance. Also have to age the pilot's head rest. It is not bronze green, it is leather. Smile. Any suggestions on the make up of the "WASH". Thanks. Chic

Chic,
Sounds like a plan.
I had make a wire loom for the Avenger gyro and hopefully will start connecting wires later today as I have all the throws dialed in per the sheet you sent me.
I do need to go back and look at the plans as I thought the elevator throws were larger than what you sent me from Brett
A little more sanding to do on the Trojan fuse and I will then be able to start laying out the panel lines

Chad Veich - Let me say, after I figured out thoroughly how to use your products (read the instructions - smile), application of the rivets worked so very, very well. They look nice on the airframe. Without painting them, how can I insure that they will be secure on the airframe? Since I placed them on the canopy AFTER I painted the canopy, I am going to use a wash to darken the rivets on the black canopy frame. Searching now for creating a wash that other guys have used for weathering. Again, thanks. Chic

I found it - I found it. This fellow documented an exceptional scale model build with plenty of text and photos. Please view this and you'll keep it for a reference forever. Since I am searching about weathering/distressing the model, I remembered reading Tom Pierce's page. Here it is: Go to Google, type in: www.tompierce.net Once on the Tom Pierce page, scroll down to: "41 Sniper" SBD-5 Dauntless by Tom Pierce. That will take you to the whole build thread. Go to bottom of page for example: to the Paint and Detail heading. Click on it to open it up and use the NEXT symbol at the bottom of each page to navigate through the build page. Outstanding information. Note, you can not get to the page from the highlighted web page shown here on this post. You have to go out of RCU to Google. Chic

I really must care for the "Avenger" Family. It is snowing here and I got up out of my com-fie chair with my onesie on, put my snow boots and heavy coat on, stumbled through the snow, through the back yard with the cold wind blowing in my face ................................................ Just For You. Ha, Ha. Anyway, per the plans, the C/G point from the L/E is 7 1/8".. Charlie said in his instructions, the prototype weighs 37 pounds BEFORE balancing. It required 21 oz of weight attached to the firewall to achieve C/G. Looking back at the picture I sent you, I can see where it did not provide any real info on the C/G. Hope this helps you out Carl.

Chic,
One ?, is that the onesie with the Nordstrom logo on it and I'm sure it didn't keep Shirley from helping out their bottom line LOL
37lbs? when all was said and done ours came out at 43lbs and that was with a 5 cell "C" pack for the ignition mounted over the ignition and 4 steel plates to get it to balance.
Progress, finally got the gyro wiring figured out (I think) will know when I attach the wings today. Only thing left to do is reattach one inboard flap and set the throws for the bomb bay and gear valves , maybe be ready for another maiden by March 1st
Stay warm..
Carl, after seeing the exhaust you may not have to put that much add'l nose weight to get it to balance

Okay guys,
1 more connection to the gyro and reroute the servo leads, still need to reattach the one flap that decided to undo itself, reset the flap throws and rebalance the plane and I think I'll be good to have someone remaiden it for me (I'm too chicken, not to mention nervous)
Try to stay warm, we're in a cold snap... only 52 today

OK Guys, get your best prayers in order. This stuff has to end. Just spent the last 4 days in the hospital with Shirley. She woke me up at 4:30am Saturday morning telling me the room was spinning. What drug is she on??? I got her to sit up so that I could observe her. After 15 min, she said it is still spinning and she did not feel well. Off to the emergency room we went. After a lot of medical work up, they told me they thought she was having a stroke. I told them I did also but I went through the FAST (stroke procedure - face, arm, speech, time) and did not see any of the signs. When they told me about a real stroke, I about s#$* needless to say. Long story short, she had more a case of vertigo. All tests, (many - MRI, MRA, CAT Scan, Ultrasound, etc.), came back normal. She was constantly crying because she felt she was once again, stopping me from working on the Avenger. She thought I was upset, that I spent day/night with her worried about her. A great lady. I told her I'll catch up, stop crying, not worry. I walked outside the bedroom and quietly said, "Snoopy, (Met Life), don't cut the check, false alarm. Smile. Back to work on the Avenger tomorrow. Chic,
All i can say is OMG, does she ever catch a break...besides being married to you or is that the other way around?
To say she is in my prayers uis an UNDERSTATEMENT.
Tell her I said the plane will be there no matter how long it takes for her to feel better.
Just checkin if maybe this wasn't a ploy to go on a Nordstroms' spree (just kidding)
I just heard from a friend of mine (since 1970) who spent the last 42 days in the hospital with a brain hemmorage, he said he is now relearning stuff that his memory has lost... Shirley has a ton to be thankful for and as long as it's only vertigo a cruise would seem in order as she won't get sea sick, may even counter balance the vertigo
All kidding aside please relay my wishes for a speedy recovery and at least 20 or 30 more years of you taking her to Nordstroms.
Stay focused on the important things my brother
Give Shirley a kiss for me

You two are beautiful. She is laughing at both of you. A stroke vs vertigo - is that even a question. God knows you guys are right. She will be back on the road and into the stores by Saturday for sure. "ME", I'll be in the backyard shop again working on the Avenger by Friday, need a decent nights rest. Didn't know how awful it is to be in the hospital as a family member (especially with a mask on). Thanks to the Avenger family. Shirley and I greatly appreciate it. Chic
