hi my name is chris im new to this forum i recently bought a tsunami and i love it runs great tuned it took some time but i got it all figured out. i have 1 queastion whats inside of a tuned pipe that makes it diferent from my oem pipe and could i mod my oem pipe to be tuned?

The length on shape of the inside of the pipe is what makes it a "tuned" pipe. Its probably possible to mod a stock pipe but Im not sure the time and cost would be worth the benefit. Its just easier to buy one that has already been tested for performance. But if you have the time and the tools I say give it a shot and let us know how you make out. I have read alot about the performance aspect of nitro and you have to "tune" a tuned pipe when you put it on. You can "tune" an oem pipe as well. When you put the pipe on (sometimes you have to get a longer silicone coupler) push it on as far as it can go, fire it up and test the performance. Shut the engine off (you have to shut it off to make it work) pull the pipe out a little bit and re test the performance just make sure that you shut the engine off every time its a must because of the way the a pipe uses sound waves to throw back air to ensure that as little fuel comes out of the exaust port as possible. If you dont shut off the engine the sound waves change when you move the pipe and sometimes cause a "harmonic affect" shortening the wave lengths. It does help but in most cases its really really little. If I find that article I will give you guys the link to it.

good info eminent. Ive read about the effects changing the header can make as well. Longer for more torque and shorter for more speed (that may be backwards though). I think he was talking about changing the inside of the pipe itself. Some pipes have 2 chambers, some 3. I havent really noticed a major difference between those pipes though.

yeah man I know what he was talking about but I dont think changing anything in the stock pipe will do anything I did notice some more speed when I took out that baffle tho

i was thinking of removing the baffle inside but i noticed the O-ring does not make contact causing a leak and i thought it might affect preasurising the fuel tank. also i blew the front shocks out. is the bladder/diafram what seals the top? if so where do i get new bladders/diafram i inspected them and they have rubber missing from the outer diameter not sealing up? also i just wanted to let you guys know i work in a machine shop running a lathe and i have all kinds of acces to cnc mills and lathes and i work with feather lite aircraft alum. i have already fabricated a custom front bumper (pictures soon) im also designing a rear bumber and skid plates for the control arm and titanium dog bones id like to get the dimensions for a tuned pipe im pretty sure i could make 1 myself. damn wish my wife would get from the store already so i can go outside and play im wathing the kids right and i see rain clouds.

is it possible to use a failsafe with regualr AA's? i hate rechargables

yeah man the failsafe will work good. You have to take the baffle out and cut it off so all you have left is the part that the O ring seals up to it should just look like a plastic ring when your done I had tha same problem man.

great ill try that today will i lose bottom end after doing this? and could you point me to a good failsafe that will opperate good using alkaline batts.?

I didnt notice any loss of power just seemed to rev up faster thats all. I bought the duratraxx micro failsafe and it works great for me.

ok heres a picture of my nami with my custom bumper it took about 15-20 mins drawing it up on CAD and 2.3 min's to mill using a prototrak cnc mill it can be mounted on top of the frame or the bottom the screw holes are counter sunk and slotted for adjustment and the bumper is designed to bend during high impact its easy to bend back. i can pretty much program the mill for any design. i chose that design as a test. the aluminum is feather lite aircraft grade. rear bumper coming soon.

yes i do i run a manual lathe im going to try making titanium adjustable dog bones this winter and big bore kits for the .18 engine using titanium pistons connecting rods and hasterloy for the piston sleave no expantion or contraction the motor should last forever well the piston and sleeve for sure.

pretty much any 1/10th body will fit. you might have to do a little trimming but other then that it will work.
Any chance you can make servo horns? A longer horn makes the steering better but all the long plastic ones Ive tried so far are too flexible.
