Does anyone know the stock shift point setting? How many turns out it should be? My truck doesnt seem to be shifting so I want to reset it and go from there
Man I havent got a clue what it is. I say just keep turning it out a bit at a time then if you dont get it to shift I would say its dirty or something.

Just remember that out with the screw means it shifts sooner. I noticed that some people think its the other way around.

Thanks eminent. I may have to take it apart and see if something is stuck. I had the screw almost all the way out and it didnt seem like it was shifting. You might be right there might be some dirt stuck in the clutch.

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

Might be man. Or another thing, its rare but there is a pin on the smaller spur gear that might pe worn off. Its that pin that the small metal piece catches when you get the rpm's to the point of it shifting. I just sold a bunch of redcat stuff on ebay for just about nothing. Maybe next time ill let everyone here know im getting rid of stuff.

eminent do you still have any spare parts laying around?

eminentguitar 06-03-2008 11:49 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

Im not actually sure at the moment. Im going to change the clutch to the 2 shoe type as soon as I get a new pilot shaft. Keep me in mind if you are looking to sell any of the parts though.

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

eminent I know you told me which pilot shaft you used on your engine but I cant find the message. Was it this one?

well, ran it again, and the needle didn't move, I'll the o-rings on and see if I can find new ones, just in case, and no, there isn't any fuel leaking anywhere, this thing is sealed.

I had the same problem on my volcano, the needle was constantly leaning itself out while I was driving. Soon enough it started to leak fuel out of the hsn. The O-ring looked brand new so I just put a slightly larger o-ring on it (possibly the old one was worn out) It has been perfect ever since. If you don't have a LHS a carburator shop is your best bet.

Thanks eminent. I'm going to have to replace the CB as well. I had the truck out today and it still isnt shifting right. I finally got it to shift but as soon as it does the power dies right off. Not sure what thats about. I was checking the truck over and I noticed the CB is starting to crack and get out of shape. I think Im going to put the HPI CB on it. Did you change the axles on yours to give it a wider stance? I know some one on here listed the parts needed. I just have to find the message again.

eminentguitar 06-04-2008 08:11 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

Yeah man put the hpi bell on its way better. The parts you talking about are they the volcane wide hex hubs? There a great sollid upgrade man well worth it. The only thing is then your not able to use the hpi mt2 parts on your tsunami because the balls are smaller on the redcat parts. What I did is made my tsunami 2wd and have my mt2 4wd so I use the volcano sv pro stubs and aluminum wide hexs on the front and the hpi gear on the back. Its a nice setup. But honestly man what I would do (from lots of wasted money learning) Just put the hpi mt2 arms and cvd's in. they make make yout stance wider then with the volcano sv stubs on stock tsunami arms.

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

The problem Im having is that I used the HPI hubs that came with the wheels to try to offset the wheels a little but I dont have enough thread on the axle for the nut to stay on. I figure the volcano axles should give me enough thread for it to work out.
Have you ever seen the CB crack before? What size clutch springs did you put on your truck?

eminentguitar 06-04-2008 09:17 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

Well man If you get the volcano stubs then just get the aluminum sexes there half an inch long and work great. Yeah i have seen cb's do some really crazy things. The one my buddy had flew appart in his on road picco 12 or 15 i think it was. It made a big mess lol.

KeithjV 06-04-2008 09:20 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

Does redcat sell an upgraded cb? Whats the tooth count on the stock one?

eminentguitar 06-04-2008 09:24 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

lol count yours..... Im not to sure its 17/22 i think no promiss tho lol. Just get the hpi bell man there way better.......although some people say the new steel redcat bell is not bad.

KeithjV 06-04-2008 09:26 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

I knew you were going to tell me to count it..but I asked anyway..[&:]

hey, i was outside playing with my tsunami epx today and i had only been runing it for 5 mins when it completely stopped the servo for the steering works but the motor doesnt the light on the spped control doent come on or beep when i push th throttle is my speed control bad do i need to get a new one? thanks

KeithjV 06-06-2008 09:45 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tsunami Thread

gearguy, if you take the bladder our you will definitely have to adjust your needles. Im not positive, but I think you will have to richen the HSN. I could have it backwards though, so its trial and error time.

foust, make sure the batteries are fully charged. Check the esc wires going to the receiver, make sure it didnt come loose. If you have access to another receiver I would try that too. If it still doesnt work it could be the esc. Good luck
