Here I'm illustrating by using actual nose gear doors that i make long time ago, i made 3 tape hinges on both forward nose gear doors how they 2nd door is secured on the gear leg and 1st door is hinged and slides in n out hinged together with 2nd door.

Hi George,
I like ur idea but it will not work due to the main mounting aluminium frames are on both edges of the gear door opening and then strut is mounted with in the centre of the frame. Take a look at these pictures.
Another method is needed here, a method with some sort of locking hinges
or a thin piano wire to hold is in place while it opens and closes
or some sort of rail with roller system.

Sam,
You have to make a, to scale, side view mockup of the nose gear and doors so that you can see exactly what is going on when the nose gear retracts. Get the strut angle and pivot point correct.
This is what I did with the Tu-95 gear. If you do something similar it will help you position linkages for the nose doors.

I like how you did urs based on drawings and mock up while taking sequence shots as gear articulates fully into the nacelle's body.
I can sure do the same based on initial drawings i have while using my actual nose gear assembly to see what is going on, otherwise making a mock up of the gear's assembly will take forever to do and i want to get this airplane in air before then end of this year...
I'll do this today once i regain enough energy in my body as i didn't sleep at all last night due to my crazy cat meowing it and running and jumping stupidly through out the house!...

Let me know what you think...I took these best I could, if you need any specific close up ones at certain angles of the strut leg then let me know.

Maybe this diagram will help you figure out how to attach the gear doors to the strut. The attachment to the strut may have to be a sliding attachment. Lots of trial and error to get it to work plus getting the font door to seat properly.
My suggestion is to fly the plane without the nose gear doors if you want to fly it this year and then spend the winter getting the doors to work.

Your build looks great!!!!!!!!!!!! planing on having it complete by spring? I know you want to do it in TCL colours but why not leaving in the colours tyou have it in at the moment. It looks good. Fly it for the season and make the colour change next winter. get soem air time under your belt and reap the fruit of your build..

Well simply coz this project started at the time when Canada lost CF-TGE and this would be replacement for it gracing Canadian skies in miniature scale plus guys who donated rolls of Aluminium aviation high speed repair tape plus flitemetal are disappointed that I didn't used that on the model and did it up in PIA's livery instead. I just want to full fill my promise that's all but if they change there minds and accept this livery then I'd gladly keep it for couple years and fly it like this....

It sure is and i don't have drawings showing how it's mechanism was made...
Looking to buy Spectrum DX18 soon, that will takecare of engine starting sequence....

Hi Sam,
After looking at a few pictures of the front doors it appears that they used a very simple method to do the doors.
It appears that the rear front door is attached to the strut in three places. You will have to retract the nose gear and then attach the rear door to the strut. Lower the gear and see where the front door happens to be in relation to the strut and fuse.
If you are lucky it will be in the right spot and you can go ahead and attach the front door. If it is off position you may have to resize the rear door so that it will be in the correct position then resize the front door.

I tried to find the relation of front door tot he strut by placing it on the belly with gear retracted with a pice of balsa in between the two taped together, and then tracked the gear out to find the right angles and position. It seemed to work out right but D1's issue started. This I will tackle over the winter after Connie's maiden flight...

Super Flitemetal work ur doing there Timex.....Loving it. Registered on ur blog there n will post.
Updates form last couple nights...
Fixed damaged right side fuselage green stripe, added windows decals and applied fuselage titles and aircraft registration number AP AJZ....
To add titles, I had to paint vinyl letters with same green paint as stripe first n then application...
BTW, last nite all the missing "N's" were applied to the titles!

Last night made remaining 3 rear cowl dome pieces out of 6oz CF, all are now cured waiting to be trimmed from access flash and installation on the nacelles...

Finally made a mechanical elevator control setup, it's old school type with a rod bend 90 degrees on both ends, with another "L" arm solder 90 degree downwards with A thin binding wire and has brass bushings made from tubes to be used as hinges of the control arm.
This was later installed at the hinge line at the center of the stabilizer and fuselage, I also made my very first series of many access hatches to be able to access in the fuselage from left side to connect the connectors of both elevator push rod to the control arm. deflection tests gave following deflections figures.
Up deflection is 1"-3/8"
Down is about the same....
To do this, it took 4 hours to do!...

Making and then will install center rudder control mechanism. Both OB rudders will be fly by wire controlled with servo in the fins but center one is internally controlled with mechanical set up.
With this method I'm saving weight in the tail by placing HD MG rudder servo in the center of the fuselage besides elevator servo. Both will operate with CF push rods.

I can see it now Chad, I can see it my friend....I'm now looking for a test pilot for this bird's maiden flight or a really good spotter as my Co-pilot...
Model's Update:
Both out board rudder tail servos are installed in the fins, now making servo mounting platform in the center of the fuselage for elevator servo and center rudder servo operation.
Elevator servos is Savox SC-0251MG
All 3 rudder servos are Hitec HS-5475HB's
On all L1049H models there were 2 large cargo loading and unloading doors, one at front left and other on rear left of the fuselage. I was thinking on making rear large cargo door as hatch but now I don't see a reason to as there will be only wires and push rods in this section for the tail plane. I do plan on making front cargo door as access hatch for the electronics and gauge panel in there. This door will be hinged at the top and at the bottom I will place 2 earth magnets to secure it and may as well place 2 more magnets in the center of both side frames of the door.

Another day is going to be spent on making, test fitting and then glueing all the new main gear bays reinforcing parts. After all major parts are installed with satisfaction, to make these rails and both gear bays robust, layup of 6 oz Carbon fiber cloth will be done in a way the forces will transfer into the full gear bay structure and not just be left on these rails only. I have to do this to make sure aircraft will keep flying and doing takeoff and landing with peace in mind and not being always worried about on the back of my mind that rails or this structure would fail on me, off course unless heavy botch landings happen then things can get different...
