RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

That's about right. 20-22lb thrust engine should do well. Figure with the fuel tank it comes with, the weight on that full is about 5-6 lbs.

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

In looking at your pictures, I'm wondering if you have installed the metal pipe yet. In most of the BD-j5's I have seen the exaust end on the Jet have been cut since the pipe is not...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi Frank:

I hope the info you received is correct, I really do, but please remember they shut down at the end of the month for 4-5 weeks for Chinese New Year. I hope they plan on having all the...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

Good job on that. I didn't use that method but instead made a servo hatch in each stab which works well. Some one asked back a few threads ago we should start a building thread for the...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

Not really. When I received mine the nose gear was already completed so when it closes, there is no opening. The problem is with the nose gear down, the gear door cover goes down about 1/2...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

For those of you who are interested and have the BD-5 on order, remember, the Chinese New Year is coming at the end of December and Skymaster will be closed for at least 4 weeks. The point...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

From everything I have seen, the BD-5 does fly well and although I vented my feelings already, the construction is really good as well. As I mentioned before, I have made several changes...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi Mike:

I share your frustration, I really do. When I 1st ordered mine, BVM was told 6-8 weeks. It finally came 13 weeks later. I was also told there would be an instruction video. There...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

OK, I had a problem with the Rudder servo as well. The way they want it installed is to open up the trailing edge and insert the servo eithor glueing it in or using servo tape. I didn't...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi Paul,

I can only assume that since I received mine a month ago that problem has already been solved. I'am making several mods on mine. I do not like the way the rudder servo is supposed to...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi:

That sounds good to me. When I 1st ordered mine from BVM on Friday the 24th of July, the actual order wasn't placed until Monday the 27th. Patty, from BVM, said she was just told the wait...

RE: BD-5J Project

Hi,

Since there is no instruction CD or anything else for that matter, do you have any construction pictures? Never purchased a plane w/out some reference info. I'm at a loss on some of the...

RE: BOOMERANG ELAN - New Build & Setup Thread!

Hi,

As far as the metel rods go, one side does stick out further than the other. Always has. All you have to do is cut the longer one to match the shorter one. No problem there.

RE: BOOMERANG ELAN - New Build & Setup Thread!

Hi,

You must be using the wrong gauge wire. It needs to be 20 gauge. Dreamworks has the special plyers that works great for that or any application. Everthing in my Elan and Sprint that uses...

RE: BOOMERANG ELAN - New Build & Setup Thread!

Hi,

Good to hear from you. As much as I like Allen, I am still not sure what he was thinking with the design for the tanks. With the removable fuel tank floor, (which mine wasn't) it would...

Just ordered my BD-5j today from BVM. Patty said it does not come with instructions but Skymaster did send her 7 photos. Is this the BD-5 thread or is there more? I need to find the...

RE: BOOMERANG ELAN - New Build & Setup Thread!

Hi,

Good idea on the new thread. As far as the tanks go, going to ones about half that size would work. Robart does have them. I had the same problem with the tanks being way to large in my...

RE: Elan Has Arrived!

Hi Mike,

Glad I asked. Instead of trying to work your building around you fishing, save your self some time and try "fly fishing". I know, that was bad. It's 2:00am here. I'am 1/2 awake. ...
