RE: YS170 fuel tank clunk & break-in

Don't know what size prop your running but my guess it's either too big or the prop nuts are not tight and prop is slipping or both.

RE: Ys175 cdi

When you installed the prop etc did you align one blade vertical in line with TDC, if so did you check if the prop blade was still in line with TDC.

If not still aligned you suffered a back fire...

RE: YS 160 DZ CDI ?

You can't really tell until you have it apart, and you then notice that the disc valve assy is a bit wobbly in the crankcase when the bolts are removed.
I have never seen or heard of another one.

RE: YS61-S

Its missing a drive washer, was fitted in a heli, but would be able to modify an existing one to suit.
I was thinking A$200 plus postage.

RE: YSDZ 160 cam bearing removal from crankcase

As Petec says, heating up the case normally works but sometimes it won't budge, I made up a special tool that goes into the bearing hole and I expand the end
to grip the bearing then I can pull it...

RE: YS 160/170 to gasser?

You would be better off converting it to spark and still run nitro fuel, fuel usage is drasticlally reduced, it's a simple process.

RE: dz160 stop in Loud noise

As Petec states, you may have done damage, bent valves are the most common, you may have put half moon circles on top of the piston as well.
The circles on top of the piston are ok, but check the...

RE: YS 110s problem

Bob,

You are thinking along the right track, when the case is hot enough the bush will virtualy drop out, you can gently help it along by making a drift, but don't force it.

I find its best...

RE: YS 110s problem

Hi Bob,

Your problem with the rotated brass bush can be fixed, I have done several of them for Aussie YS owners, and have not had one do it again.
I havn't worked out why this happens to to...

RE: how hard I have to close the prop nut ,dz160

The problem with running any alum backplate against the drive washer is slip, the two surfaces just don't mate up properly, and the smooth back plates only sit on the top of the groves, and...

RE: Backplate HELP

First guess is that you have not aligned the back plate with the crankshaft properly,
and looking at the pictures of the disc valve it looks heavly scored, if you pulled the assembly apart
the...

YS 70 REAR BEARINGS

Amazing what you learn when one has a good chat with your local CBC bearing supplier.

Take note that the rear bearing for the YS 70 and possably the 115 are not normal bearings but a thrust...

RE: When to replace the bearings

When you state that a rebuilt engine will never be quite as good as a new one,
I disagree, it depends on the level of the rebuild,
you can just gave it a new set of bearings or go the whole hog....

RE: 91AC vs 91FZ vs a 120 size 4 stroke

I test flew the YS 115 in a 90 size Swallow patternship tonight, turning a 16x8, it was all I had, man has it got grunt,
took of at half throttle and climbed out vertical.

We have stock in...

RE: YS 170 fuel pump issue

I would monitor the pump pressure to see what is happening, just T piece a pressure gauge in the pump to carb line.
Any 40 to 50 psi gauge will do, surprising the pressure some pumps will put out,...

RE: YS170cdi conrod again

I don't worry about the weather, but I do run 20% oil in my glo versions.
A comment, if your CDI is a kit conversion then keep running 20 % oil, if it is a proper 170 CDI then you can use lower...

RE: YS170cdi conrod again

I myself run 12% oil and 25% nitro with the APC 4 blade, has done lot and lots of flights.
Why do I run 12% cool power, just to be on the safe side, and I don't need all the power that this engine...

RE: YS170cdi conrod again

The big end of the conrod has a shamfer on one side and not the other, when installed backwards the big end nips up tight, not enough clearance between rod and counter balance of crankshaft, and you...

RE: YS170cdi conrod again

Gyri, I hate to say it but your ploblem is self inflicted, you have used the wrong conrod and/or put it in the wrong way.
Nt all of the 160/170/170 spark rods are the same.

Send it in for...

RE: YS FZ110S - problem removing prop hub

The Toledo puller should be available from any good industral tool place, cost me about $70 a year or two ago.

Yes I looked up what was done to your 110, it wasn't a full rebuild, only had a new...
