RE: Open Letter to the AMA EC

What the....do they really expect to gain that much more money, or are they secretly hoping to just kill off most of the printed events calendar?

I've been asking why the events calendar wasn't...

RE: Lack of growth

Now there is a valuable piece of info to take from this: few want to join a club that is saturated with regulations.

This has been mentioned before when some parkflyers siad they didn't want to...

RE: Lack of growth

To an extant, EVERY generation thinks people were better in "their day." However, a quick read of history shows that the population was not doing a world-wide group-hug 4 generations ago, so it is...

RE: Blade CP belt drive

If you can get a whole new helicopter with CNC frame and belt tail-rotor for $90, let me know. ;)

RE: Making the impossible, possible E-field NYC

"Flanking" does not always mean a battle.
His point is to gain approval from multiple channels. If the park director hears approving words from his known co-workers, then he is more likely to have...

RE: Making the impossible, possible. America's e-field NYC

Sweet Mary, you don't start with the low-hanging fruit, do you? Don't break yourself on this one. Anyhow, thread subscribed!

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

Now, we're getting somewhere! Thanks, Dion, for providing the building blocks to a useful plan of action for gaining entrance to a park. Seriously, thanks.

@scottrc: Also good input on setting...

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

Dion, it sounds like you may have done this before. I'm pretty familiar with the need to properly present yourself. May I ask a few details to help the others out:

1: Who, specifically, should...

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

The weight and speed limit exists because of the FCC. How the heck should AMA create another set of rules based on a bunch of cities that can't agree with anything. Park rules or not, there will...

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

(sigh) First they complain that they would not be allowed to fly at the sites. When I offer a solution, they declare they wouldn't want to anyways....

Look, maybe the club is hosting a fun-fly...

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

This all sounds strangely familiar....

The AMA safety requirements are the best "general" rules. After that, most clubs have to create their own guidelines on what models may fly anyways. ...

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

Here we go again!

A new idea that has come to mind is to enable an RC club to charge a "day pass" for non-members to fly and be covered by insurance. That would permit the E-Ticket members to...

RE: Park Flyers Illegal in Orange County, CA

Man, Dion, one day you support AMA, and the next you bag the heck out of them. You need to preface each of your posts with either "Dr. Jeckyl" or "Mr. Hyde." :D

Dave Matthewson already posted...

RE: AMA EC moves down a notch????

LOL. That's straight out of Dilbert Land. I find it amusing that in most businesses, I hear of alot of committees, but very few action teams. Anyhow, I'm guessing the AMA Member committee will be...

Originally, I had issues with term limits. But, it seems that Griffen dropped out as soon as he heard that Hanson is staying. Why? I just hope that means Hanson has the time, this...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

For crying out....I thought you were accusing me of saying we WERE afforded protection. I KNOW we aren't afforded protection, since I'm the one who posted that link in the first place!

I need...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

Dion, if a stationary tower is utilizing that frequency, then that means it has ownership of that frequency in its area of influence, right? Channel 4 and 5 towers are an example. No RC pilot would...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

Ah yes, that would be an unfortunate scenario. It probably also plays a large part in why some members would prefer to take the "join or beat it" stance on the neighboring flyers. All I can suggest...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

Wait, you think it's encroachment by whom? The parkflier or the club member?

FCC defines that use of the frequency requires that you avoid interference with other legal users. I posted this...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

Okay, that's a bit more clear. Are you asking why a club should have to share frequencies if the non-member could just move to a more distance location? Well, that's certainly something you can...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

What?

My apologies if I miss the point, Liberator, for some of your stuff is a little hard to follow. I'm guessing you want to know why an adjacent park-flyer should HAVE to share frequencies. ...

RE: To the AMA EC staff, district representatives, and other employees of AMA.

Actually, bubba, I'm kind of impressed we made it to page two. It's hard for me to not comment on a tangent when it's a fun one to explore.

Aaaaaanyhow, I'm still amused with the Turbine...

RE: WHAT KIND OF INS IS AMA?

@decay: the simple and "mostly correct" answer is that if you follow the AMA safety regulations, then you'll have liability and property insurance coverage. There are some safety rules that aren't...

RE: The AMA field and the rogue field

The point is that a club, no matter how organized, has no right to impose restrictions on flyers outside of its boundaries. Some clubs are fortunate enough to control a 2-mile radius and therefore...
