RE: Tower Hobbies Fun 51 - Engine & propeller experiences

I would try an 11x4 first. The 11x6 will be too much pitch. I used both the 12x4 apc and the 12.25x3.75 apc with a 46fx, and both were very well matched to the airplane. Oh, and what he said, move...

RE: Finally flew my Fun 51.

nope, that's the regular gear, just some weird angle makes it look black. You should be ok with the bracing, mine was built stock. Have fun!

RE: Finally flew my Fun 51.

yep, fun plane. Put a 6 oz tank on there! I switched mine after the first couple of flights, I was getting about 4.5 mins of time with any reserve before I had to land. Also I had a 46fx with the...

RE: counterbalances on sledge

Cool, I see what he's talking about now, thanks. And mine has the counterbalances on the plans as well, framed up the stab and elevators last night. woo hoo!

RE: counterbalances on sledge

Jeff,
I received my kit in October, and I can almost swear that the counterbalances are on the elevator. (I'll doublecheck tonight). Mine cam with the 3/4 tri stock for the leading edge, but the...

RE: Fun 51 - first kit to build pics

Sweet! Here's a picture of mine. Flies good, hovers (as well as I can make it :)), knife edges are great, has enough rudder auth to KE loop. inverted flat spins are my favorite, though.

Have...

RE: Anyone Flying the New Phoenix Models Sukhoi .46 From Tower Hobbies?

vertical, if not unlimited is very close. I have to reduce throttle for hammerheads to keep it in sight, and it can do very huge consecutive loops.

RE: Anyone Flying the New Phoenix Models Sukhoi .46 From Tower Hobbies?

The gms .47 has a lot of power, but not enough to 3-d. I've only had about 4 flights so I haven't tried any major stuff yet. If I get a chance to get to the field this weekend I'll see if I can...

RE: Anyone Flying the New Phoenix Models Sukhoi .46 From Tower Hobbies?

Well, finally had a chance to fly mine over the weekend. Overall, the plane flies very well. I only got in two 5 minute flights (I changed the rudder to pull-pull and was getting some centering and...

RE: Futaba 6XAs and spoilerons

spoilerons are just like flaperons, just the opposite way. You will need two aileron servos (and on channels 1&6). I used my 6xa for this before my 9c, so I can help, but I'd have to look at my...

RE: Questions about SIG LT 40

Wings,
That's a good idea, and you may end up coming back for some training. I belong to 2 clubs and both are approx 1 hr drive from me. I could fly closer, but it's just more fun with other...

RE: Questions about SIG LT 40

Hey, wings:
First of all, I would recommend you find a local club and instructor, because the glow planes are quite a bit different from the small electric planes.

1. Yes
2. You can do...

Anyone Flying the New Phoenix Models Sukhoi .46 From Tower Hobbies?

That's a gms 47. I thought I'd try it out and if it doesn't have enough pull, I'm going to put in a saito 72. The engine fits in the cowl, but unfortunately the huge gms muffler does not, so I'll...

Anyone Flying the New Phoenix Models Sukhoi .46 From Tower Hobbies?

come already pre-hinged with non-ca hinges. The hinges are also pinned with little metal pins (I'll try to get a pic tonight). They did a much better job than I could, the gap on the surfaces is...

I just ordered one of these and received it Sat. This is only the second ARF I have had and I was overwhelmed when I opened the box. Everything is packed very nicely and in separate bags to protect...

chuck the prop

The first thing I would do is get a different prop. I have the same combo 46fx/fun 51 and the best prop I have found is the APC 12x4. Can pull out pretty good now. Even a APC 11x5 is better then...

Futaba 6XAS... pros? cons?

The 6xas is not a bad radio, but like others have pointed out, it is beginning to show it's age. It's programming is not very intuitive and the feature set is limited. Having said that, I've had...

Finished Fun-51

Yep, covered it all first, didn't have any probs sliding it in, just took it nice and easy. I've not had any probs with my gear yet, but I've only got about 10 landings on them. They do seem like...
