RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

Don't get me wrong.. I like the decals. They would really look their part on a plane from this era. The problem is, they don't really work at all with this trim scheme. Besides, this plane looks so...

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

I think I know why Tower doesn't show a picture of the plane with the decals on. Because the decals are ugly and RUIN the appearance of the plane.
I did a quick photoshop of the plane with the...

I've looked 3...

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

Can anyone give me a positive ID of the covering material so I can get a perfect match? I plan on putting strips of covering over the seams where the horizontal stabs meet the fuselage.

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

I fitted my cowl today. I painted the screw heads and washers with white paint and I think it really helps maintain a streamlined look.

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

For those who still haven't ordered, Tower Hobbies says the Dirty Birdy is now IN STOCK (Limited Quantities).

I'm betting they won't last long.

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

Not the easiest thing to photograph. One of these is looking down through the hole in the firewall.

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

Mine arrived today. I unboxed it and looked it over. Everything looks good. I might be able to fly it as soon as this weekend if things go according to plan.

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

I was told by someone at Hobbico yesterday that the "Planes are scheduled to arrive next week midweek."
I won one of these planes in a recent promotion on Hobbico's facebook page.

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

Would you rather:

Use a 61sf for this plane that's just sitting in a drawer not doing anything, or
Spend $220 on a new 75AX?

I've flown the 61 in a 40-size Sundowner and it did well. I...

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF

I have a Dirty Birdy ARF on the way. I plan on putting an OS61 SF in it. I've never flown a pattern plane like this before so I'm hoping that old 61 pulls this plane along. I may put a tuned pipe on...
