I don't think you should be upset over your purchase. The DX7 is a great radio. I have had two of these since they first came out and never had one problem with them. The radio is really a JR radio...

It does look like the top of the wing is fully sheeted. look at the top wing in the pic of the bottom view and I think you can see the outline of caps on the ribs.
