No, there isn't enough room between the rear gunner floor and the bottom of the compartment to get the tank back there. I found a spot in the wing that it will fit in though, right behind the center...

Yes, I did measure the 8" by the rib bays, but 8" is an overestimate. I'd just take off the wing tip and move it to the next rib over.
