RE: Motor comparison (are all 370's equal?)

I made the following measurements on motors I had on hand:

Stock SkyLark motor (not new): Io = .30A, Ri = .71 Ohm, Kv = 2680 RPM/V
MPI ProMax 370 (new): Io = .91A. Ri = .34 Ohm, Kv = 4740...

RE: Castle Creations Pixie-7 esc

Given that, unlike fixed wing electrics, these FP helis "fallout of the sky" when the ESC cuts off, wouldn't a low voltage indicator (like a light or something) be preferable to a higher cut off...

ThunderPower 2100 2S Lipo

I looked at the Thunder Power 2100 mAH, 2cell pack this weekend. Per web site, its mass is 85g. That makes it dead even with a 7x72omAH NiMH. The length is nearly twice as long, but I think I can fit...

Motor comparison (are all 370's equal?)

I see the "370" motor designation is used by several mfg's. Does anybody have comparative data (Kv, Io, Ri) between MPI (ProMax), Century, GWS...

If no "tech specs", how about empirical...

RE: How high have you had your Aerohawk/Skylark?

KnimRod, that 8 foot stratus layer is pretty solid.:)

Seriously, flying site permitting, I would think that if you can climb 7 feet, you are well out of ground effect. So you should be able to...

RE: How much HP does a turbine produce ?

How much power does a turbine put out?

The "turbine" puts out (as shaft power) just enough to turn the compressor. ;) What's left over from the jet (hot gas stream) is what's available for...

RE: Aerohawk tail motor pulsing??

Try rerouting the antenna. My SkyLark used to glitch (more frequently when the onboard battery was low) until I left about 1 foot of antenna dangling below the skids. The rest is still wrapped...

RE: Whats the best Electric for Outdoors flying?

Did I read that you were using the Acro 280BB at one time? How was that, compared to the 300? Thanks

RE: Whats the best Electric for Outdoors flying?

You made marks on the ceiling!? Wish I could get my SkyLark to climb that high.

SkyLark has fallen and can't get up (motors)

Just when I was getting the hang of it, the performance of my SkyLark started to fade. It can no longer lift itself more than 3" off the floor after more than 15-20 seconds on a fresh battery. As I...

RE: tethered flight with a micro heliand a gel cell?

Seems like I have 5-7 minutes of good hover (plenty of lift to get trainer gear up in the air). Then I get another 20 minutes of low altitude hover in ground effect (12-16" up). My main motor is...

RE: Will this work????

My previous reply was with reference to 120 degree swash plates. I just looked at the site for Precision Model Products (PMP) and see they also have CP swash plates with a "pitch slider" for the...

RE: Dragonfly seperates help!

Foster,

Sorry, you do mention that you have a Focus 4. So no Throttle/Rudder mixing capability in the Tx. Unless you have a mixer between the Rx Channel 3 & 4 and the Gyro, you will have the...

RE: Dragonfly seperates help!

Foster,

Looking at your equipment list, I don't see a mixer for the TR. You didn't indicate what Tx you are using. Are you mixing in the main rotor to TR speed there? Somewhere along the line,...

RE: Will this work????

I do not have a collective heli, but I do have two Hitec Flash5X's. To my knowledge, there is no way for this TX to mix three channels together to control cyclic and collective on a swash plate...

RE: Dragonfly seperates help!

A few "diagnostic" questions... Is your "death spiral" a right hand yaw? Does the EDF motor speed up slightly as you add TR right stick before it stops, or does it slow down steadily as the stick is...

RE: Dragonfly main motor alternatives?

Lecky,

I like a guy who uses measuring equipment! Can you tell me what the approximate current draw of your retimed Speed 300 is when in a hover condition. And if you have tached it, what is the...

RE: tethered flight with a micro heliand a gel cell?

I have been successfully using a tether about 7 feet long and a 7 cell 2100 mAH NiCd pack from my kid's RC car. I would guess about 24 gage wire. Besides long run times, strategic placement of the...

RE: Skylark with upgraded drive shaft problem

I still have the OEM shaft in my lark, but I'm curious about the "upgrades".

Why did you opt to drill out the "D" shaped holes in the rotor head and gear, rather than file flats on the titanium...

Shift mod for GWR-4P Rx

Hi folks. I've been reading old posts about "shift".

Has anyone converted the J version (positive shift) of the GWS model GWR-4P single conversion receiver to an F version (negative shift)? I...

RE: Classic Dynajet??? Parts???

I haven't tried this myself, but here is an idea I read about... A length of old oven heater element (insulated conductor in inconel sheath) is stuffed up the tail pipe to about where the combustion...

RE: Where to buy Ceramic Bearing...

Another source for the GRW bearings is an outfit called IEC in the UK. They take charge cards (handles the currency exchange nicely) from the web site and ship for only 4 GBP.

I'm interested to...

RE: SkyLark Progress

What a difference!

Today, I installed a spherical bearing in the swash plate. I own a metal lathe, so I bored the upper swah plate half so that the "swash ball" was concentric with the existing...

Newby SkyLark Questions

I bought a used Sky Lark at the NEAT Fair for what seemed like a good price, given the excellent visual appearance of the chopper. This is my first electric heli and I was hoping the incorporated...
