RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Peter,
I'm not trying to "Police" what you are saying or asking. I'm just trying to figure out where you are coming from. You have been all over the place. You have talked like you have been at it...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Peter, there is a big difference in CA and epoxy. They are not the same strength. Example, use CA to glue two strips of plywood together and then use epoxy. Let them cure and then try to separate...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

That would be the Skyshark R/C spinner. I think it was discussed earlier in this thread. Probably somewhere around post 190.

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

You are right Tom.
Back to the building...
How did it balance with the Toro 25 on it? I have the ST G-2300 for mine, but am thinking of going gas if the weight is needed up front. The Brillelli...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Peter, I think you jumped the gun on not giving Nitroplanes a chance to clear it up. It's not like they can do it that day. It takes a couple of days for it to process and show in your account. I was...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Kurt, I would say no more than 1/8" lite ply is needed. You only have sheet balsa and foam to glue to and the 1/8" is stronger than both already. No need to add weight that will not add any strength.

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

That looks great! What spinner did you use? I was thinking of going with the 74deg Spring Air. Do they have problems?

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Good luck with your build Ross. Keep us posted on any mods you make.

I have finally finished the Robinhood so this one is FINALLY going on the bench. I started this thread months ago, now I can...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Ross, I think the general rule of thumb is to have one ounce of torque for one square inch of area. That means if the area of one aileron is 60 sq. in. you should have a servo with at least 60 in/oz...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Go with the one for the D9. It is closer to scale size. Get the three blade version and a three blade prop too.

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Tom, I was looking at those retracts too. I think the ones for the Top Flite kit would fit better, but they are $43 more. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000245014&I=LXUL86&P=K

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

The Spring Air retracts should have a 3/8" hole for their oleo struts or a 3/16" hole for wire. Have yours been modified? If it is a 1/4" hole get some music wire and it will be plenty strong. No...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

LDM, Yes, it comes with rails built in for retracts. They can use a little beefing up though, IMHO.

Looks good. Let me know how your 2300 runs. I am painting mine like Kittel's.

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Don't leave it with gaps. Try sanding it to get it as close as you can. Obviously don't sand so much that your root ribs are paper thin. If you still have gaps spackle on some epoxy when you glue the...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

I have a used 2300 that is one of the old Italian made versions. I have had no problems from it, except getting a smooth midrange with the three-blade prop. It runs like a top with an 18x6 MAS...

SuperTigre G-2300 swinging MAS 16x8 three-blade prop. I am using Futaba 3004 on flaps and Hitec 475 on ailerons, 422 on elevators and rudder.

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

JLS, I think it is between 1/6th and 1/5th. 1/6th scale would be 66.16" and 1/5 scale would be 82.7" That only take the wingspan into account. You can do the calulations for the rest if you want.

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Broken, I bought a set of the Hobbico Mechanical Retracts and the strut is at least a half an inch too short. Did you use a different strut? I think I might just have to ante up and go with the...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

I just spoke with Spring Air and he said the model 119 or 709 would both work nicely in this plane. The 119 is 3/16" wire and the 709 is bored for oleo struts that are $74.95 a pair. Price is $160.00...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

So the Hangar 9 cheap retracts did not work too good. I will be interested to hear how the Hobbico hold up. If I go with mechanical retracts I am leaning toward either the retracts that came with the...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

Same here. I have not started mine yet. I have been finishing up the Robinhood on the bench. I will start the 190 in a few weeks.

I have been researching retracts for this plane. I know CJM...

RE: nitroplanes.com FW 190 Build

That is not the muffler pipe. He is using a silicone exhaust deflector. It looks like the stock 1.20 muffler.
