RE: rc diesel engines?

... and both fits quite well to the HCCI definition. (Google will help ya, although I believe downunder knows this stuff already)

RE: Air Leaks...do you really need to seal your engine ?

Nah that was not my intention.
For ease of tuning and bearing life i think it's a good idea to plug that hole.
You _might_ see a small power loss from increased viscous friction thoug.

RE: Air Leaks...do you really need to seal your engine ?

That hole would provide a substantial "vacuum" in the groove around the crankshaft, when running high rpm and small throttle openings.

Apart from that, I'm with downunder on crank sealing,...

RE: Glow plug ignition timing

I have read it previously, and agree with your comment on his interpretations. Now I have to read up on the rest of the tread, seems there have been quite some activity here :)

EDIT, read the...

RE: Tuned pipe help needed Super Tigre GS 45

Not a problem at all :)

I actually have some own experience of just that, have been racing F3D since 1995 or so.. ;)
Downunder is about right I'd say, even though I would add some on that...

RE: Tuned pipe help needed Super Tigre GS 45

A bit of topic, but anyway..
The quote above is probably true for F2A, control line speed, but:
F2D, control line combat, do not use tuned pipes.
F3D engines are normally "on-the-pipe" before...

RE: RC turbo design problems...

Well, not all info in the world are available on the Internet...
I'm not going to bother with this argument after this post, if you believe that are no working turbo charged two-stroke racing...

RE: RC turbo design problems...

Yes, I'm absolutely sure.
What I'm also saying is that it's a lot harder to get it working on a model size engine, with it's very simple carburettor and glow plug ignition.[8D]

RE: RC turbo design problems...

Well, I'm not aware of any two-stroke turbo charged snow-mobiles using direct injection into the cylinder. I have only seen carbuetted(spelling?) and plain EFI.

RE: RC turbo design problems...

savagecommander,

Since turbos are successful on two-stroke racing snow mobiles (see earlier post in this thread) I think you can safely assume that the principle works, right? ;)

The...

RE: find hp of your engine w/o dyno

Good luck with your simulations, but watch out, it can be seriously addictive ;)

RE: find hp of your engine w/o dyno

It can model two-stroke engines.

Look under Data - Cycle Type ..it's there.

Edit: Or in the "getting started" document:

RE: find hp of your engine w/o dyno

Have a look at Lotus Engine Simulation, there's freeware version available for download that's limited to single cylinder simulation.

Good luck :)

RE: RC turbo design problems...

TooSlow2Care,
I don't have any own experience with turbo charged two-strokes, so I cant really tell how bad the turbo would be.
You don't need reed valves for it to work though.

There's...

While the discussion is quite interesting, we are getting a bit off topic here...

Anyway,

Motorboy,

Maybe I was not very clear, English not being my first language and so. I was just...

RE: Glow plug ignition timing

I have to say that a glow plug ignition is a bit different from HCCI.
As I know it, combustion in a HCCI engine is homogeneous, and starts at mulitple ignition points.
The combustion in a glow...

You are most probably right about that gkamysz, but you newer know who you may come in contact with this way.
You seem to know a thing or two on the subject.. right? ;)

RE: Glow plug ignition timing

You are absolutely correct, as I said earlier.. it was a long shot asking ;)
Unfortunately I'm not capable of creating the model myself.. I'll have to stay in my current line of work ;)

RE: Glow plug ignition timing

DarZeelon,
I fully agree on the effects of running too lean. I'll just add that theres no throttle on the engine I'm simulating ;)
Anyway, I guess it really boils down to (in)cylinder...

longdan,
I'm not sure how to show you the simulation. Its based on the book "Design and simulation of two-stroke engines" by Gordon P Blair. I can try to post some results though.

DarZeelon,...

Glow plug ignition timing

Not the same timing that's discussed in the other thread, "Glow engine Timing" ;)

I'm doing some simulation of my two stroke glow plug engines, and I think I have decent input data for most...

To anyone that say that turbo charging two-stroke engine is a no go: Turbo charged two-stroke engines have been very successful in snow-mobile drag racing, at least a few years ago. There are even...
