RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Nice engines Bob.
Let us know how they run.
Pictures of 'em running would
be nice too.

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Recieved a Killer Bee backplate from XenaLook a few days ago
and assembled this.
Goldan Bee lower end with a "0" cylinder assembly and standard golw head.
The prop is an older 5 1/2-4 Grish...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Here's photos of the tank with reed installed.
Not as easy to do as with the e-type spring.
The groove that the reed sits in is just wide
enough to let it float.
In the other 2 photos I'm...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Nice photos François.
Here's some mixed up parts.
The 8cc stunt tank pictured is somewhat of a mystery to me.
It uses no spring or plastic retainer of any type
to hold the reed. The reed...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Hi Bob
Thanks.
I bought this TeeDee .051 new in the box, when I lived
in L.A. from '78 to '84.
It does have sub port induction and
twin bypasses with 2 boost ports on each side.
Aside...

It is mixed though.[sm=red_smile.gif]
Also.....muffler and sub port induction?

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

t587y28,
Nice scan. I never thought to use a scanner to photograph an engine.
Great contrast. Using a digital camera can be somewhat of a challenge(pita),
as far as focus and lighting up close,...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

controlliner,
This is not my work to be sure.
It's a KustomKraftmanship item I bought
directly from Joe Klaus by phone 30 years ago.
It's a black widdow case with an oilite bushing.
The...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Tnx Silvaire.
The thread trick has been around forever, but the teflon
application came to me a few years ago while trying
to seal a real beat up tank bowl and backplate.

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Silvaire,
After you've slit a length of tape, twist it an inch or two at a time until
the whole length looks like a piece of white thread. No flat spots.
There is a groove on the back of the...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Oh, forgot to add....
I now use a length of 1/2" plumber's teflon tape,
that I slit lengthwise(3/16wide) and twist. Compresses nicely.
For the "venturi" gaskets, I use one stock, and the other...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Yep,leaky as all get-out until I learned the
"thread trick", many years ago.
Probably poured several ounces of fuel
through various engines before that.
Real tank screws(not the soft junk...

fizzwater2,
Dunno.
Dale and his daughter Mary Kay were a record setting 1/2a speed team in 1980.
This was probably Joe Klause's heyday for cox engine rework, mods, etc.
There must be some info...

RE: COX 049 Bee mixed parts.

Al,
The KK valve assy. features a split collet under the nut.
Tough for me to photograph, but here it is. Click on the photo.
I've heard of KirnKraft, but know nothing about them.

hfenn,
Exotic-exshmotic. Nice engine!
How many head shims do you
typically use? Do you go for

Tnx.
