That is because it is using Hirobo flybar paddles, but the helicopter is an MinAir X-Cell 60SE. When they were released in the late 80's they were among the top helis of the day.

Yes any heli gyro can be set up to work on an airplane. If is one that is switchable between Heading Lock and Yaw rate, you will find it easier to use in yaw rate.
