Matt - You were right. The full size plans made mention of adding a washer between the left side mounts and the firewall to give right thrust! There was no mention of this in the instructions though...

Thank you P-40 Driver. Should I used a sideways mount as the plans show, I'd need to cut away at the fuse to get the muffler to fit. But by positioning the motor rightside up, I can fit it just fine...

I have the Airfield 1400mm P-47 with the same chipped prop problem. Now that you mention it, the Spitfire and P-47 both have 13x9 props. I might just order one off the P-40 page...
