RE: Somethin Extra ARF, engine (again..)

I am extremely happy with my SE - Saito 72 combination. Mine balance 4" back from the leading edge with the battery mounted under the receiver. Plenty of room to move it back more when the time...

RE: First Low Wing Plane?

I finished my Somethin Extra & Saito 72 as my first low wing plane a couple of weeks ago. I believe most would agree the SE is more 3D/Aerobatic capable than the 4Star or the Sporster so I think the...

This link is apparently broken. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of that MPG file. I wanted to add that one to my archives!!

RE: Chipmunk or Something Extra

I flew my SE for the first time today and it was fantastic. It is my second plane, and I was able to take-off, trim it out, and land it myself on the very first flight. The flight was so clean, my...

RE: Tree Trimming Videos

And when did you first realize you hated trees? Is it "all" trees, or just that particular tree? Do you get excited at the sound of chain saws? How about when you pass by a chipper machine? Do...

RE: Somethin Extra/Saito 72 Maiden Flight

With the fuselage level, I have about 1.5" clearance on a 13" APC prop. This is the LG I'm using... Dubro Landing Gear

Somethin Extra/Saito 72 Maiden Flight

Graduated from Falcon 56 trainer to Somethin Extra today. Things went GREAT! I LOVE the plane and I actually did all the piloting on it's first flight. Took off in about 30ft at half throttle....

RE: Dubro HD LG on Somethin Extra

What size prop are you using with the stock gear? The 12" APC I plan to use with my Saito 72 had zero clearance with the plane level and the wheels that came with the kit.

Dubro HD LG on Somethin Extra

Anyone tried the Du-Bro HD Landing gear on the SE? .landing gear (http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_id=DUB789/101.0.70.404.0.0.0) I need some height for prop clearance and this looks like a...

RE: Somehin Extra- Too Much Elevtor Deflection

I am building an SE ARF right now. Have the instructions and the parts sitting in front of me. There are two different sizes of threaded control rods that go onto each rudder and elevator pushrod....

Suggestions on linkage on SE with Saito 72?

Thanks Jhart!! That was one of the solutions I was looking at but the input arm was so close to the side, I didn't think it would work well. I'll just relieve some of that side like you did. I was...

Suggestions on linkage on SE with Saito 72?

Allen, I like that idea and will file it away for future use, but on this plane I don't want to put any more weight toward the front then necessary and there really isn't any room on the backside of...

Suggestions on linkage on SE with Saito 72?

OK, I must be dense, but neither of these answers make any sense to me. On the flex cable, that is the same thing that comes with the kit, but the cable comes out of the bulkhead high on the right...

Suggestions on linkage on SE with Saito 72?

I'm building the Somethin Extra with a Saito 72. This means I have a throttle linkage challange. I would like some suggestions on how to solve this. I've come up with a couple of ideas, but would...

Somethin Extra - second plane - review

Yes, thanks for the info! I will have some additional "opportunities" using the Saito, including prop clearance, throttle linkage, balance, so I'll have to work through those too. I've put my...

Somethin Extra - second plane - review

Matt, what was your first plane and how far along with it were you before you felt comfortable with trying the SE as your second plane. I'm in the process of building an SE with a Saito 72 as my...

SE with Saito 72. Will TnT composite gear clear?

Shipping is a few buck less too, but they aren't available yet. You mentioned they said the molds will be in next week but when will they start shipping them? I'm hoping to have the plane in the air...

SE with Saito 72. Will TnT composite gear clear?

Anyone used the TNT composite gear to allow use of a 13" prop with the Somethin Extra? I've seen posts where the aluminum TNT gear will work, but I would like to make sure the composite gear will...

Saito 72GK Fuel Question

OK, I've made the mistake of reading the manual before I started to break-in the engine. Now I'm confused. The manual recommends 20% oil content and 10-15% nitro. It says NOT to use a 100% castor...

Red's Battery Tester down & dirty, take 2

OK, maybe I tried to re-invent the wheel a little too much last time by using the resistor. I invested about $3 for the #44 bulb and the holder at RS. Then I soldered some solid wire to the leads,...

Super Sportster vs Somethin' Extra

I'm thinking if he got the LA as a package deal, he may have more than made-up the $5 difference. Apparently he is satisifed with it's performance. Perhaps he may be able to do more than 2 outside...

Super Sportster vs Somethin' Extra

I say, fly the best equipment you can afford. If the 40LA keeps him in the air and out of hock, then obviously he's chosen the right engine for himself. I fortuantely got five year 0% finanace and a...

Super Sportster vs Somethin' Extra

Hey, I've been flying my Falcon 56 with an OS40FSR ABC since 1985 saving up for this! ;) At least my last AMA card says 1985. They did give me my old number back, which I thought was really cool....
