RE: Flaps vs. spoileron landings

The other thing to consider is the damage/maintenance of using flaps for a landing. Since flaps drop down, there is risk of damaging them if deployed on landing.

RE: to AILERON OR NOT TO AILERON

Depends on what you want. I have sailing with res is about as simple as it gets. I would definitely do spoilers, but ailerons are depend on your goals and the contests you might want to be in.

RE: GP spirit 2 meter

Just an d FYI. If you remove much polyhedral, you will need ailerons to fly the plane.

RE: GP spirit 2 meter

I do not have the model at my house now but to describe the install, I have the micro server buried on a board between two ribs with a link connecting the servo horn to the spoiler. It is a tight...

RE: GP spirit 2 meter

The spoilers are effective but I would not actuate them the way the plans show. Using a weight to close them seems foolish. I have a micro servo linked to each one under the spoilers. I also...

RE: GP spirit 2 meter

I think the Spirit 2m will roll if you build up enough speed before starting the manuver but I expect it will not be a pretty roll and it will not be axial. That said, I think the Elite may not do...

RE: GP spirit 2 meter

The standard Spirit 2m does not have ailerons. If you are looking for an aileron Spirit, I would suggest the Spirit Elite. I have to warn you that it is not as forgiving as the regular spirit 2m.

RE: Turbulators, are they supposed to stick up from ribs or be even?

I have never used them but I do believe they are supposed to stick up above the surface of the wing. From what I understand, they break the air from the wing to change the performance of the wing. ...

RE: Spirit Electric question

I doubt they will work with the spirit due to the difference in size. If it worked, you would barely gain altitude.

RE: Spirit Electric question

I think 30oz would be a good approximation for an unpowered Spirit. By the time you are done, you will be up near 40 oz. Myself, I run a 2s 28/14 12 axi gold motor. THe climbs are not bad and I...

RE: Looking for Extension cord for battery chargers

I wound up taking an extension cord from Lowes that was 14/2 or 14/3 and soldered on bullit connectors. That seems to work for my application. I have not tried using it under high loads though.

Looking for Extension cord for battery chargers

I am getting tired of sitting my charger in my engine compartment to charge batteries. Does anyone make an extension cord (Maybe 10') with banana/bullet connectors for this purpose? I wanted to try...

RE: Another ESC question

That should be more than enough. If you find you need more power, go up a cell in battery and down in prop. Verify new config with Motocalc.

RE: Another ESC question

Running an 80 amp controller when you need only 30-40 amps will be ok. The only problem I can see is the high amp controllers take up more room, weigh a little more and may have wires thicker than...

RE: Another ESC question

First, figure out what the max amp draw you will need. Then buy a controller rated for that current or higher. ESCs are rated on amps more than volts. Also determine if you need a ubec built in...

RE: GP Spectra Motor Upgrade?

I have a question for Mode1Mike. Is the Spectra fuselage larger than the Spirits? I am looking to rearrange some things in my Spirit and wonder if I would get more room with a Spectra. I currently...

RE: GP Spectra Motor Upgrade?

I would only comment on one thing about the 2808 motor. From my experiance, the Spirit/Spectra tends to require nose weight to bring it to the rearward most CG point. If that is true on your side,...

RE: GP Spectra Motor Upgrade?

I use an Axi 2814/12 on 2s lipo with a 10*7 prop. It is not balistic but it gets me about 300-400 feet up in 30 seconds. It would be more impressive with 3s. You 6 cell should be ok. You will need...

RE: What variometer should I get Part 2

I am going to try one from the following website. It is going to require a transmitter/receiver combo in the plane to send its signal though. It does all I need it to do.

RE: New FPV camera + transmitter

For normal use, do you really need an antenna tracker?

Since this is my first crack at FPV, I want to look at starting with a kit that is mostly constructed of parts that are certified to work...

I have not converted my Tx to 2.4 as of yet so using 2.4 ghz for fpv transmission is viable for me. Does anyone have any posted videos using this equipment?

Also, what goggles should be used...

RE: High Start Question

Not sure about the kevlar issue. The kevlar and poly green line have about the same stretch ratio with the poly line having a little more give. As far as the proper ratio of tubing to string goes. ...
