RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Pull-pull is pretty easy when using one servo. For maximum rudder deflection you will need a long double arm for the rudder servo. On the 1.20 Edge the longest heavy duty double arm that Hitec...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Depends on what you have mounted up front. If you're using a 2.4 gasser or some other heavy engine then a tail mounted rudder servo may well be used to offset and balance the heavy nose.

It's...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I really don't want to be the one to say it, but that Fuji is pretty darn heavy. It has the power for sure, but the weight penalty you will be carrying around and have to offset at the other end...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

The 1.8 Saito will give all that you want and more. The 2.2 just isn't needed at all. Go with Tom's recommendations on the engine box. It's a simple tweak to make for a more rigid box to support...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

The Saito 2.2 would be an awful lot of engine. I don't think you could ever open the throttle all the way! I wouldn't go more than a 1.8 four stroke. The plane just doesn't weigh that much.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I was saying that the 24 is more robust and reliable than the 28, and that 3w is not making the 24 anymore. The 28 has more power, but the 24 will last longer because it was made better.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

If you make your standoffs out of wood dowels like a broom stick or something they will be exactly the length you need, cheaper, and probably weight the same as commercial aluminum products. They...

At least now I know that I'm not the only one that's done that;)

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Running the 645's on 6 volts will help the speed out some, but won't do anything for accuracy. They'll work for the moment, though, and you should have no qualms about servo strength. Digital s...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

If your willing to spend the money on a MVVS, you might want to look at an RCS 1.40 or 1.80. I think they might be a better choice

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Tom,

Oops,

I was referring to the Supertigre, but a long day and distractions had me placing the wrong prefix in front of the 23. It should have been ST2300. I agree with your overall...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

We used a G-23 glow in the original flight testing that started this thread. The power available was excellent. Weight was not really an issue, and any overweight issues were directed towards...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I agree. There really is no benefit in using a gas engine if the weight of the aircraft increases by a pound or more in the process. There's some fairly reasonably priced 1.2 glow engines that do a...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I'm going to apologise in advance for this post, but I feel that the "perfection" thing that seems to be going around these days with 1/4 and smaller sport scale aircraft is going a little off the...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

The cut outs were placed in such a manner that you could reverse the position of the servo and use a Wye harness instead of a Matchbox and the like or radio mixing if it wasn't available.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I've never felt bad about the 1.10, but for extended vertical it may not be enough. The true test of any engine's ability to carry a plane will be while installed on the plane. Give it a try to see...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Absolutely not!!!! I've flown a bunch of different Edges, including the small Lanier. The W/H 1.2 Edge has a LOT more wing area, a thicker airfoil, wider chord at the wing roots, a better...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

If you received the DB mount it would appear that you have one of the early concept samples that was used for finding things that needed to be changed prior to the production run. The firewalls will...

If you mount the tank directly behind the engine as we did a pump will not be needed.

12" on the ailerons works fine. 18" max for the elevator servos.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Buy one, assemble it, fly it, and shoot the video. I did the best I could with what I had available at the time. Since my location and occupation prevent normal r/c flight for the next few months, ...
