I'm going to look at a SH for sale, What makes a SH a fake?

I read on the forum here, that if it has one motor it isn't the real SH? and are these still good?

He has a pic of the box and it shows the boat having 2 props and 2 rudders but the pic of the boat only has 1 prop and rudder?

should I pay more then $50 for the boat without remote?

and is the boat still upgradable if it is the fake one?

Thanks I got the boat and am in the process of trying to figure out the best way to get some speed out of it.

Everyone seems to recommend going to one motor and running 2 batteries, which is fine, but I'm not sure I want to rip out the gear box and start modifying just yet.

------So are there people using the stock daul motor setups with some lower turn motors and that running some good speeds and good run time??-------

run time to me is a big factor, I will get a couple of nice battery packs so that will help.

Can I go with 1 brushless motor?

and what would be a good BL motor for speeds around 25+ mph?

Check the gear alinment. The pinions need to be shimmed in most cases. FYI it will get 25mph stock ;-).

Well I went out and bought some new IB 4200 batteries and a ESC.

will the stock motors handle 14.4v?

I think they were meant to run that much voltage ???

personally I'd go with this ESC http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...od=rch-vic1032 It's slightly more, but it's water cooled and from a very reputable dealer.

edit; answered -->The motors are 540 types right, like RC car motors? then I would say with cooling you could push 9.6v, I wouldn't go higher.

oh here's a comment on towers site about the ESC. I dont know if this is BS or they're serious
"Always use the GT550 Motor. Using other motors may damage the speed controller. The GT Speed Controller does not work properly with the Futaba hig response system."
either way I'd convert it to water cooling, which isnt terribly hard, but if you can return it, I'd get the one I linked to.

7.2v each, there's several ways to make two 6 cell packs run one one esc to two motors.

I think your right, I got the wrong ESC.

I will get a new one tommorow, some reason I thougfht the motors ran at 14.4v.

any recomendation on 2 motors to replace the stockers?

I know thats pretty fast, I think I'm going to a single motor.

Is the speed 700sc still the motor of choice when running 14.4v.

can someone confirm that when I run 2 batterys I run them in series to get 14.4v?

yes you do. Basically, if you have 2, 6 cell packs and want 14.4v, you use a y harness to connect them in series. here's some pics just follow the wires. Sorry I dont really color code, but I tried to lay it out clear. I'm partial to to the 700sc, I've got lots of videos, but my boat isnt tuned yet. There's a jet version and a surface drive version(not tuned). If you went with the 700sc you could down grade the ESC and get the one in my boat, that site sells it as well.

I am running that esc in my Aquacraft Nitro Dual Outboard Conversion and it runs great.

thanks guys I think I will be getting the JETI esc, I found a dealer where I live to sell me the 700 sc motor and flex shaft for getting it.
setup.

I'm going to keep the stock outdrive for now then upgrade later. I might lock the the outdrive strait and run a new rudder so I don't lose power when turning the boat, do to the outdrive turning and the binding in the u-joint shaft.

what do you guys think.?

OK, I got the esc and motor and mounts.

I got the 700BB 8.4v and a motor mount.

Now how do I mount the motor mount? screw it in through the hull? epoxy it to the hull?

also do I need to reenforce the hull, and how would I do that?

Yeah just epoxy it to the hull. I don't know how weak the hull is on the SH so I don't know if you need to reinforce it or not. If it flexes alot then you should. To do that you can lay some fibre glass down or get some carbon fibre sheets and epoxy down or a cheap way is to get a plastic "for sale" sign from your local home improvement store an epoxy some pieces of that in.

What angle should the prop sit at?

the turning stablizers look wrong to me, how should they look?

I will be adding a peice of alumanium with the motor mount mounted to it in the bttom of the hull.

Just waiting on a flex shaft and flex couplers then I can mount the motor and give it a try.

Here's some more pics, this is with the epoxy already dried and more of the prop angle, also this is how the motor will be mounted.

The blue flex shaft is just some silicone hose, just so I can get a good idea of how it will look.

the mesh tape is just that tape with a sticky side, and the epoxy make it alot stiffer. I will be epoxying in the plate that the motor will mount to, the motor is just sitting on a piece of wood, that is were the piece of alumanium will be with the motor mount bolted to it.

I would like to know what you guuys think of this setup and where I could improve it.

I'd go to the postings on Mini-V and get a better look at out drive.. Now for me i'd put motor further ahead, across the barrier and put a stuffing tube in and take out all the out drive except the plate at the transom. Also go to Jeff Wohlts Rc boat and check out his SH . I did a Mini-V but kept outdrive. I put a .98 cable in and a 1/8" cable shaft put 5/32 brass tubing to help support the cable shaft. Now at transom the stuffing tube has teflon in it to keep water out + cable can flex with outdrive for turning. Now when using cable, a guy can put oil on cable and put GOOP right at hole and let dry but won't cling to cable. I bet you confused. Trim tabs should be level .I just completed a hull ( just hull and topper ) just about what you are doing. Now it was a Villian EX at 30" long. The Grauper 700-8.4 has more rpm like 1745 and the sc has 1470 rpm but can run on 16 cells while 8.4 runs best at 12-13 cells and a 440 prop carbon fiber.

I've decided to get rid of the stock out drive and replace it with a new one. I'm not confused about the GOOP stuff I understand what you mean.

The only thing is, what strut package do I get?.
I want one that is pretty close to complete, with rudder, strut, strut bracket, flex cable, prop shaft. something that will have most of that.

Any ideas, is there a proper size I will need?
