Yeah, I was wondering if you went with the 7.5 size or not. I like the pinstriping on your Velden a lot. I remember seeing that pic earlier in this thread and liked the boat then! Actually, I am not able to sell the cowlings. I don't have an agreement with AMPS to do so, so its only for personal use. I have been asked by a lot of guys up here about making them tho. Maybe I can get something worked out where I can offer them...we will see! Talk soon, Mike

I finally pulled out a Black gel coated gas size cowling from the molds. Turned out great. This goes with the 56" Performance International hull molds that I have. The engine stands 16" tall from skeg to top of cowling! Mike

I am converting one of my Seebold tunnels to FE, and decided to draw up a nice radio box with custom etched lid so it is a really clean conversion. The parts came in today...here is the etched lid! Turned out really nice. I am using my worst condition Seebold to do this conversion with...even then, it has been a difficult move to modify the boat, but the previous owner had already done some repairs to the inside, so its not a mint hull anyways. Here is the radio box lid:
I am doing the conversion to the hull with the #1 Placard.

I put the box together last night to check fitment, and it fit great! Woke up this morning early and sanded everything then coated the box, lid and servo try with epoxy. I will show more pics once that is dry, sanded, and clearcoated with Urethane clear, then I will start rigging the hull! Mike

Not sure what I'm going to do yet but the Velden tunnel I have with the brushless motor on it has cracked in a couple of places because It has very little glass in it. Seems they were spraying almost all resin out of the gun when it was built. It had been repaired a few times before I got it...Thinking of maybe converting a seebold like above also, they look to have more glass in them and look a little better built.

RCollector,
I made a little progress on the Seebold Friday. I started laying things out in the radio box, however, I am going to modify it some and add a trim mechanism servo tray as I converted a K&B 7.5 outboard to have trim/tilt setup and now want to make it functional. I will add pics of this asap. I didnt snap any yesterday when I fiddled with it. Here is the clearcoated radio box and some gear installed for mock up.

And....After many many months, I finally got my Starcraft CPS-20 hull almost done. Here is the story...So, around January I got a lead on a CPS-20, with a nice Evinrude XP150, 7.5cc Amps outboard, Original owner, original radio from the factory, and lots of little miscellaneous stuff. I jumped on it, overpaid, but had to have it...well, the owner turned out to be a little bit of a wacko and it took over a month to get this guy to ship the thing. It was a nightmare. Well, I finally receive the box, and it had old dirty pillows, pizza boxes, a quilt...all kinds of odd and disturbing packaging in this box..I think there was a cereal box around the front of the hull if I remember right...Well, I start unpackaging this thing...and quickly realize this "custom paint job" he described was Green/ yellow/ black enamel and lacquer spray paint, and underneath that, was a silver lacquer paint job...Not only that, but the poor hull had been packaged so bad, that the rear end got damaged and busted all to pieces. The hull, once I started sanding on it, started revealing even more dirty secrets...The front end had been crashed, and one of the sponsons had been broken free from the center section, and someone had used some really odd cheap epoxy and cloth that I have never seen before to try and bond it back together...it even had this odd greasy feeling like Epoxy blush...but worse. The more I looked at the hull, the more discouraged I became. My one chance to own a Starcraft Flying wedge seemed doomed...and the money I paid for this, was sickening to my stomach. Luckily, the outboard was mint, and the cowling was packaged separate and safe.
So, I bought different paint strippers, all but an orange citric acid type would not work against this boat. The more I put on stripper, the worse things became. I got off all I could, then started using laquer thinner and Acetone break down the rest...many boxes of gloves, razor blades, paper towels and tears finally got this mess off!!!
So, I finally realized restoring this hull was not feasable. I had peices missing, the resin core of the boat was deteriorating from constant abuse. So I decided to get crazy. I decided to make plugs and molds from the upper and lower decks. I had to bond each part to a parting board, then start repairing the areas that needed fixing, until I got the surface I needed to make a mold. Off and on, it took me 4 months to get to this point. Well, I got the first lower part made a month ago, and just this weekend, I got the top deck done. I did the graphics up in the gray/ blue scheme, and will be doing the seat tray in white with blue stripes as soon as possible, and the rear wing I am going to repair and paint white to match, or make a mold of it. The windshield is OEM too. I want to thank Jeff for his great pics to guide me with my repairs, and Bill for the graphics file..as you can see, they the graphics look great!! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading the story, and enjoy the below pics even more! While it may not be an original, its mine and I could not be happier. I plan to run this hull, and enjoy it, which is what its all about! Mike

One of the other problems is the yellowing of the plastic enginre covers and other parts like shown here. Found two more tunnels I forgot about ... All three of these hulls have never been used. If you looke closely at the brown spots it lookes like somthing was dripped on it but I don't think so. It does not come off with solvent or light buffing . Maybe some heavy compound . But I'm not going to worry about it now.

i know you all have seen wades hand made champ outboard .. unfortunately i do not think he will be making any more . . i have the only one as a demo of his great work i dont think i will try to run it . This version was made with my AMPS gears , and it did hold up with a RCMK 30 . i know he is still working on his scale V-6 to fit on the lower ..
