Thanks! Its kinda a spoof on a gee bee racer... racing/slow poke.
Just recently one of my clubs had an article written up on them in a local news paper. My slow poke and I were the two pictures in the article.
It was a great article if anyone would like to read it...

My neighbor is getting close to finishing his slow poke. Hopefully he will post pics on here. If not, then I will.

Bringing this thread up from the depths of hell itself...just finished this Slow Poke. A Slow...dicator? It's based off of an SB2U Vindicator.

Slick...that SLOW..dicator is WAY cool!!! Got my SlowPoke a few weeks back; will use the O.S. 52FS and thinking of doing it in faux GEE BEE R2 colors and maybe changing the canopy a bit. Then again, I just might......

Awesome! I hope you go through with the Gee Bee idea! It's really easy to modify these aircraft, especially the cockpits, to make them look similar to their full scale counterparts. A relatively quick build, especially compared to a lot of other kits. Easy assembly and nice fitting parts! The Slowdicator has an OS 52 in it.

RE: Let's See Your SlowPokes
I just bought a SlowPoke kit from the USA via ebay. The kit and the ARF were listed on several British model shop websites, but none actually had them in stock.
Have Ripmax, the UK importer, dropped it?
After I telephoned all the shops with it listed to try and get one, they all seem to have disappeared from the shop sites. I gave up and bought an untouched kit from South St. Paul, Minnesota. It only took a week to arrive and cost me half the listed U.K price, including the postage.
Hoping to start the build soon, I have a RCV58CD to power it. It will be covered in Solartex
There is a lot of good inspiration on this forum for a colour scheme.

RE: Let's See Your SlowPokes
Good choice - we need more 'Pokes in the UK and the RCV is a sweet engine (I've got a 91CD in mine). I'm sure it's been said before, but the 'Poke looks huge in the air and a good color scheme is really worthwhile. Try and build the tail end light and consider an access hatch in the fus' under the motor because you may need an oscillating Perry pump if the carb sits much higher than the fuel tank.

RE: Let's See Your SlowPokes
Thanks for your helpful comments John, I'll bear them in mind when I start the build.
I realise that my RCV is a little smaller than yours, I'm hoping it will have enough power though.
I really like these engines and was considering fitting my RCV60SP to the Slowpoke, but it would involve some modification to the front end, so I think I'll stick to the 58CD.
What did you cover yours with, I'm intending to use Solartex for mine as I've used it on other models. I'll take my time through the winter and give it a nice colour scheme.
I'm a more experienced 'builder' than 'flyer', I've never flown an aileron model before, only rudder and elevator 'vintage' models (Junior 60). With this in mind I've assembled an ARTF 'trainer' (Ripmax Trainer 30) in order to improve my flying skills before I let loose with the Slowpoke. As it may be tricky to find another one, I want it to stay in one piece.

Excellent! Another Poke to be started! Good luck with the build and flying. Remember to post pics! It really is quite an easy and fun model to build.
