That engines peak power is at 29,500rpm and a max rpm of 32,000 according to the spec list. These kinds of engines need to rev to make good power. My lapped Enya .30 turns a 9x5 APC at close to 16k open exhaust and 5% nitro 25% castor fuel. I'd bet an 8x5-8x7 would get it really singing. But what do I know.

Propellers that I used are in accordance with the rules.
Aces combat rules determine the prop size, muffler measurements and ground max rpm.
My best os.25fx with hatori muffler apc 9x5 prop 15% nitro rews 15900rpm.
And idont believe that enya.30 can done 16k never ever, .25bb alcrome rews low 14k with apc 9x5 prop and enya special muffler.

Aright, technically it was 15,780rpm peak on the APC 9x5 open exhaust on 5/25 fuel. It runs 15,900 or thereabouts with a .46 size Jettstream muffler and same fuel. No BS here. Chances are the .25 isn't anywhere close to be broke in if it is only turning in the mid 14s. My .30 has 3-4 gallons through it now, it only leaked at 13,500 on the same prop when new and just off the bench.

Why you use so much oil?

More oil = more lubrication. I've found my engines run a bit faster on more oil; the Enya 30 included. More oil, better piston seal.
1L of fuel for break-in on the bench may be fine, but it will take gallons for that AAC Enya to really open up.

more oil in some engines does help in from what I have seen the increase the compression ratio as the oil doesnt burn in our engines. so it fills up space in the chamber.
Open exhaust is very very close to what a Jett muffler does. What open exhaust shows you is how restrictive stock mufflers are.

Flight test with rossi.
Apc 9x4 16100rpm is too heavy prop,tight turns and rpm go down.
China apc 8x4 19200rpm is very good, engine not loose rpm in tight turns,but 1:12 ekw thun is too slow plane.

Dub Jett instructs to set his engines 800-1000rpm rich of peak for launch. That goes for the sport models anyway - piped or not. His engines will happily chug along at 16,000rpm all day when they'll peak at 18,000+. Needle settings and glow plug selection is critical for high performance engines, especially piped engines.

I ran up a few .25 sized motors just to see. I used an 8-6 Master Airscrew prop and 10% on all test with no muffler. The LA .25 was 15,500 with the control line carb, a different one with the rc carb was 16,300, an AX .25 was 17,400, an old OS .20 was 15,000. and a Magnum .28 was 17,400. A Norvel .25 was 16,200 but I think there was a muffler on that one. I am just sort of interested in how the Novarossi compares, as I am thinking of getting a .28 rear exh. at some point.

I think the 5 is for a 5 port? Some of the car motors are even seven, or sometimes three. I had been thinking of the .28 for a piped B speed control line plane for a record attempt. I need to find a place to fly from pavement first. I think the record here is around 180 mph, If I could do that I would be more than happy, If I could break 200 mph with some cheating (nitro) I would be even happier. It has been done in the 1980's, so I think it is possible with the old line sizes and high nitro.

Maybe the muffler is holding them back. It could be piped timing as well if the exh timing seems anywhere near 170 degrees. Then it would need a pipe. Otherwise, yes it does seem somewhat average for a motor of that size. How are the revs with no muffler? The old .29 motors were pulling a 7 or 8" prop with a 10" pitch at 20,000 rpm. That was with very high nitro. Now the pitch is lower because of the 10% fuel mandated. I think 24,000 rpm is what they are propped at on the .21 size speed planes. Nice video .

That engine will need a 8x5 prop to turn 20,000 rpm. Your choice to order a Jett 35 is a very wise choice. One thing about the Jett 35 engines though is you need to stay on top of the rear bearings need to change them every 2 gallons of fuel or so to stay safe. The case design along with the crankshaft size has the bearing on the small size. This coupled with the power it makes has them wearing out faster than normal. I run the Jett 35 LX rear exhaust engines and they scream around 21,500 on 8x7 APC props with the marine pipe.

I had been watching your video over and over again, I love it . I ordered Jett BSE 35 side exhaust (Dub made me waiting for more than 2 weeks) I don't know if It gives me the power like your plane, I hope it does. About my Nova Rex R26CR I try the smallest prop 8x4 around 18600 rpm (I hope Macs setup give me 20,000 rpm), I am more than happy if it could turned 8x5 at 20,000 rpm, I wasted money on this engine for my setup. The side exhaust version of the Jett 35 isnt quit as strong but still good. Did you order the LX or regular sport jett? If you got the sport jet run a 8x8 to a 9x6 APC if you got the LX then the 8x7 APC will really scream. this engine should put your plane in the 130 mph range.

I forgot one thing, what length of your header and the total length included tuned pipe?
