Good luck, LB! I left the board for a very little while and bam! You have another new RC :P
I read through the entire thread the weekend before finals.

Rubber shield ballbearings in da house! Hopefully w/ rubber shields, instead of metal shields, there will not be rust issue... (but then, I really doubt that I run my RC enough to worry about that!)
Should have time this weekend to take the diff out and install all the bearings, as well as making the diff LSD... !

I've been watching this thread for a while, and I really want one of these! Don't know when that will happen though, but I think I'm hooked and I don't even own one!

Why did you go with the rubber shield over the metal one? Do you think the rubber shield is water proof? Or will it just hold the water in the bearing longer once the water gets in.

Rubber shielded bearings seals better so it would be harder for water / snow to get in, in the first place..
But also, since it is not metal, reduce the chance of rust by itself as well..
But then, that's all just my guess... I got no proof.. ha! Try at your own risk!

^_^ thanks guys.
LB, what brake material will you get? I think you might be able to cut up some 1/8 buggy brake pads.

Time to put in some ballbearings..
While the wheel was out, snapped a pic of the suspension setup.. pretty simple, huh?!

Interesting rear suspension setup! You can put in a spring and adjust the collar to increase the travel... Maybe later!

Don't like the design here.. [:@] The driving wheel and chain driven wheel assembly rides on the shaft, with no bushings, so no option of changing to ballbearings! [:@]
I think I will apply some heavy grease and then clean it off on the outside (so it doesn't attract dirt..)..
They should have gone w/ a better design here! [:@]

I have thought about getting a Blizzard in the past. I love the scale body of this new DF-300 model! I wish Kyosho still made a plow for it! The DF-300 would be so sweet with a plow and a set of RAM R/C flashing lights!

Yeah, I am thinking about a flashing light unit myself.. we will see... ha! I like to get the mechanical aspect sorted out first before doing other stuff!

Well, time for a custom mod then to run the bearings, take a drill and cut you some slots for ball bearings, if you want..

Then the shaft will be too small in diameter and might not be rigid enough...
We will see.. stock for now.. will think of a better solution later.. maybe someone will make aluminum drive wheels w/ bearings?! I'd buy that!!
