Any reason why you got the GP instead of EP?! (Just curious..)

Get it built and start running it, man!!

Lol, thanks, but it rained today! Most snow is melted or turned slushy! But the snow will come back very soon...

I love nitro, but in this case, I prefer the elect in the cold and snow.

I was thinking of EP, but I have no idea of getting the GP. My family got me this, and they didn't know I liked the EP, but oh well. I have experience with nitro, so should be good. But nitro looks pretty realistic when moving across the snow with those engine revving sounds. Agree?

But I have to build it soon before the snow goes away! And plus, it rained today! [:@]

GP is a little tricky, but once you have experience with nitro, it is not a problem, just the cost of fuel.

Yeah, thanks, you too, Merry Christmas LB!

Here's a video of my Blizzard from this past weekend!

I handed the controller to my wife, and guess what?! The battery went dead.. so the video clip = 10 seconds.. LOL!

I forgot to bring my 5,000mAh LiPo, so it was running on a 1,500mAh NiCD.. LOL!! Oh well.. [:@]

Be sure to select the "watch in high quality" option!

In this video, I just set the camcorder somewhere and drive.. silvercan + crap battery = still fun!

On this thing, going fast does not equal more fun.. ha!!

(I am sure many of you will disagree.. ha ha!!)

This was from a few days after the initial snow storm.. so all the snow are icy and hardened..

Blizzard is attacking the hill here.. went up to the top in the 2nd try, not bad.. (one hand driving, one hand filming, as usuall.. !)

I've been toying with the idea of getting one of for awhile so I ordered one last week. I've been running my Academy 4WD 1/10 truggy with the traxxas VXL brushless. As long as you keep some momentum and WOT it goes well. I have a XL-5 ESC and 12T just sitting but I think I'm going to just do the VXL from the get go. Why doesn't anyone put large rubber paddles on the tracks? I plan on it. It sure makes a diff. with snowmobiles. I figure with the VXL brushless and taller rubber paddles on the tracks this baby should really move out. I will link a Youtube vid when I get one made.

Yo guys, this maybe crazy talk from me, but I'm gonna stick with plastic and metal bushings on the Blizzard that includes them (it don't include any ball bearings). Why? They don't rust when water or snow get in it, while the ball bearings and probably even the rubber sealed ones can rust. Once they are rusted, they don't function right, the vehicle will make weird sounds, when running it and can cause damages around the vehicle if running it with rusted ball bearings. I'm not sure if anyone know this, but my father told me about this, don't really know if it will happened. Water and snow can only get in certain parts of the vehicle. Anyways, these things are slow, meant for moving slowly across any terrain and detail looking vehicle it is. Only if you have something really fast, ball bearings are necessary, but something like these don't really need them IMO.

BTW, I forgot to mention this, my father also got a GP Blizzard, not the DF-300 version, the older one, but they are just about the same, since the differences is that the bodies, DF-300 has a chassis brace the old one don't, and the colors of the parts around the truck are different. Not really much of a difference

Nice, 2 Blizzards in the family!

I hear you about ballbearings getting rusted, but the Blizzard always stay indoor after I run it.. that means heater is on.. snow melts and the vehicle dries right away.. I really don't see rusting as a problem.. so I decided to run ballbearings anyway.. especially the drivetrain parts.. I still prefer BBs..

Just one man's opinion, of course, ha!! But I am sure you will be just fine w/ bushings.. just make sure that you use a lot of grease then!!

Oh yes, grease will make it better. Probably use BB's for the drivetrain and bushings on the wheels. Hmm, just thought about something. What will happen if you grease or apply some kind of waterproof material on the ball bearing? Will that be good then so I could use BB's?

You can use those grease to block out water, but then, it will attract dirt.. but it probably won't matter in the snow (no dirt, sand, etc.) !

Yeah, your right, I'll see what I can do. I might just sealed the gear box and some tranny parts, so I can put BB's in them, no water will be able to get in, but the wheels might leave them with bushings. Well, might start the build tomorrow. But we needs a new Blizzard thread for GP ones! Agree?

Keep us posted with your progress! (esp. the "large rubber paddles" issue) Would be interested to see how it works for you!!

Ok, so I'm stuck with my mind between painting the body. I really like the stock color on the box of the GP. But my LHS doesn't have that paint so I have to go to a other alternative. I got green and yellow (lighter and darker) spray cans with me now. I'm thinking the Blizzard will look really nice with those colors, but which one? I like yellow, it will resemble a full size tractor which are mostly of that color, but when I sees it in green, it looks great too. But I also got blue, white, silver, purple and I believe red with me, but not sure I like them or not. Mind bogging now...

But I should assemble the kit first than thinking about that. I never had any time today to build some of it, since I was a bit busy. Hopefully can start it tomorrow or the next day after that.

Hey LB, you mention about making the LSD diff on your own with this some kind of fluid or something, it was in the pages of this thread, but can't really seem to find it. Can you give me a link to it?
