From the sounds of it, this is going to put the mini e-revo to shame. I am tired of people comparing this to the carisma GT14. It is really nothing like it besides the wheels and tires. The chassis layout is completely different. For some more information take a look on rctech.

Who gives a rats donkey what it comes with since no one keeps that garbage in them anyway. When they come with CC and Neu then we won;t need to bash stock stuff.

How is it going to put the Mini Revo to shame? They are 2 totally different vehicles.

They may be two different vehicles, but the losi looks to be a much better buy for the price. I'm thinking it is going to be more durable than the revo. The losi is a racer. do you have yours yet rschoi_75? I would really like to hear how it compares to the Vendetta ST. That was a great little car!

Don't have it yet. I'm hoping by Monday. There are lots of guys over at rctech that have run both. But I will definitely take some comparison pics when I receive the Losi.

Ok, so I've had this buggy for almost a week now and all I can say is this is AWESOME!!!
Here's a comparison pic of a LWB Vendetta ST (on left) and the Mini 8ight (on right)
wheelbase is exactly the same. The mini 8ight is about 2cm wider.

The carbon fibre parts are hop ups - Losi has $170 worth of hop up already to lighten your wallet

Does the motor seem strong enough? What's the stock gearing, and what kind of movement up or down do you think it has?

Can you be a bit more specific about what you like and what you don't like please?
Can you be a bit more specific about what you like and what you don't like please?
- The motor has plenty of power. Its a 24mm can so it can handle the extra weight of the mini 8ight just fine. I personally like overkill so I put a Permax 400/4d (5200kv, 28mm can) in it. 28mm cans like the permax, neu 11XX series, and Mongoose motors are a very tight fit. I had to grind the motor mount slightly to get it to fit. The Castle CM26 series should be ideal if you want a larger motor that directly drops in.
- The esc is rated for 32a constant. The low end response is horrible, but its fairly smooth once you get the car going.
- I don't think the chassis itself needs any upgrades besides cvd's. I fell for the C.F. trap and bought everything. But now that I've driven it, I don't think I need any of it. Yes, carbon parts are aftermarket. The alloy hubs and knuckles look nice, but I don't think you will need them. I've done quite a few cart wheels with this thing trying to figure out how it acts in the air, and not one brake yet. I'm more worried about the front shock standoffs than anything else.
- The gear diffs are strong and should be able to handle any motor you can fit into the car. Losi finally got their act together and put out a mini with strong diffs! Thank god!
- The body is ugly as sin, but that's just me. I replaced it with a phat bodies Optimus for the LWB vendetta.
- All 12mm hex wheels fit. 1/10th TC wheels and tires are a perfect size.
- My only gripe about this r/c is with the servo saver. The C-clip is too weak and it prevents the servo from centering properly. I tossed the stock servo and put in a Hitec 225mg with a vendetta servo saver. It tracks like a vendetta now... which is a very good thing.
- Lastly, and I hate to admit it..... but.....
The Losi Mini 8ight is almost as good as my LWB Vendetta ST out of the box, and I firmly believe it will be better than my beloved detta with a little minor tuning.
I'm not a big fan of Losi products since I've had a lot of bad experiences with them, but I will say that this buggy is worth every penny.
* Foxy, I don't know about the stock gearing yet... sorry. The pinion is a 16T, but I haven't checked the spur or opened up the diffs yet. So I have no clue what the gear ratio is on this buggy.
One more pic for good measure:

RE: The mini everyone has always wanted, losi 1/14th 8ight
I got one last weekend. I don't have any RC equipment to start out with so I'm just running the stock set-up. The back is too stiff so I moved the top of the rear shocks in. I also bought 2-cell Lipo's but they do not fit in the tray. Can anyone tell me how to fit them? Should I use Velcro or what? I just got done re-building a local track so I will be able to set-up my car a little better over the next couple weeks. So far I have broken the steering servo, lower shock mount and bent the stock aluminum front shock mount. I also have bought a new charger ($70) and 2 new Lipo's ($10 ea.). I'm trying to keep cost's down but I see some hevy spending over time with this thing if it takes off and I keep interested.

Cool. Will it take fatter 3s batts?

Homey55,
you can do the same thing I suggested to Foxy for your lipos. Then use velcro to keep them in place.
Shark,
I shared your pov before this buggy was produced. You should take one for a test drive sometime.
Now if only Xray would produce a 1/16th mini 808 that would be killer!

It can if you cut off the outer edge of the battery tray. Its actually just two small pieces. No dremel required. The plastic is soft enough for lexan scissors.

i also agree that the elecs in there are a bit too small for a optimum setup.

I know I will get one eventually. It looks awsome. I loved the vendetta, but it looks like this is going to top it.

I got my mini 8ight today. nice little buggy. Can you guys post more details on velcroing in a lipo? I have some ordered from hobbyking but wouldnt mind picking up one from the LHS if i could make it fit. everything they have is too short for the battery box.

Put one strip on your chassis and the other on your lipo. The normal battery brace will prevent up and down movement while the velcro will prevent the lipo from moving side to side and back and forward. Keep in mind that you will loose about 3-4mm of vertical clearance when using velcro, so size your lipos accordingly.

Just got mine today. First thing out of the box I was giving it a quick front end alignment and every time I would turn the turnbuckles the damn ball cup would pop off the ball!! Anybody else have this problem? Also does Anybody have a good starting point for camber and toe adjustment?

Anybody consider making their mini eight into a mini truggy? Wonder if e-revo wheels/body could be made to fit? any idea?

RE: The mini everyone has always wanted, losi 1/14th 8ight
The e-revo 1/16 wheels will fit.
The Team Bluegroove truggy body fits perfectly on the mini 8. It's the same body that they sold for the Mini Inferno ST a few years ago.
