If you can fit the seventh cell then go for it. The 8.4 will be fine with the stock electronics because there are people that are running 11.1v Lipo's with the stock electronics with no problems.

I have a heat issue with my Mini-Baja. I'm using a Reedy Mini Mod 17 turn motor on a stock ESC, an IB 1400 and dirt hawgs. I am running an 12 tooth pinion. I was going to use my lowest, 11 tooth, but it was an Ebay buy and it has a set screw stripped inside it. I don't think 1 tooth would be good enough maybe 2 and a bigger spur, and the spur is stock. Should I get a heat sink motor plate or try getting a bigger spur and/or a smaller pinion?
The heat problem is the motor. The battery and ESC get warm, but nothing bad.

AHHHHHHHHH My baja ariived today. Now I have a question how do you get that stock plastic pinion gear off? The motor is acting up and I want to take the springs and brushes out to make sure there not the problem but I cant get that d&*n pinion off.

Hey frank I bought my nephews minit's for christmas and one was purchased off somone that didnt have a motor so I had to buy one. I bought the mini moster for I think $38 and it was definitely and upgrade from the stock motor. I heard the baja was a better motor but from the short time I had it going it was pretty nice. Thats also with a new battery thats only been charged once so a battery that has been cycled a couple of times would make this car go. I also saw a little difference in speed when I got my nephews the bearing for the wheels, if you dont already have them.

It started to chew it up. I dont want to ruin it. Do they use glue for it or just stick it on?

it shouldn't be glued. take pliers to the end make sure not to chew up the middle. it should slide off with a little force.

I ran the baja for about 2 months till I was bashing on my road and I shattered a magnet. I'm going to either sell my Mini-T for a new Vendetta ST or go BL/Li-Po.

I have/had a Vendetta ST and it was great. DTX doesn't make them Anderson makes them and DTX sells them as the Vendetta.

I ran the baja motor in my mini t when i used to race it. It is a good motor and it lasts along time. I also have a brand new set of brushes for it that i have not put in it yet. Plus i made it to where i can adjust the timing on the baja motor. I used to put the 17t pinion on it when i would run it on pavement with the losi foam tires and it would really go. I got rid of my mini t last year but i kept the baja motor. I figured i would keep ahold of it just incase i get another 18th scale electric car. When i used to race with it i would use the 9,10,11,12t pinions. But mostly the 11t for the track that i raced at. I would advise people to get the baja motor. It really is a strong motor and lasts along time if taken care of. Oh, and i never used the plastic pinion because it would never stay on once the motor got warm. I even tried to use CA but it would not stay on and would come off.

To take care ofthe motor would be:

1. Running at the spec voltage..
2. Not over gearing the motor..
3. Runnng at the right temps and not running two packs back to back if the moto is warm..

Thats just a couple,
Andrew

replace brushes when needed, use trinity royal oil, just a drop or two on the front bearing where the motor shaft is every month or so
