I don't know about any place else, but this was at a new small independent hobby shop in a small town--about 20 miles from here being the city.
Whats the name to the LHS? I might have to stop by there one day this summer...

Tigger, can the chassis from the Vulcan be used with the Half8? They look pretty similar in design and even the arms and stuff look alike....Is the Vulcan the same base platform as the KMI? Looks cool, I really like the look of these mini nitros.
At a glance, the arms and shock towers look very simliar as do several other items. The chassis may work on a KMI, but the holes won't line up. However, I won't know for sure about the interchangeability of much of anything unless I start dissassembling both a KMI and the Vulcan.

TNB, who's the distributor for this car? It's almost spring and I need new cars, lol.

that little sucker is BAD. I'm callin my LHS first thing tomorrow

BTW, is that the Piktor buggy, with a different name? how's parts availability?

And I found one for what I think looks like a screamin deal. So, unlike mayhem kid, I'm gonna let everybody know:P

Thanks for providing everyone with a link. Myself, I do try to support the LHS at times and in this case, I helped support a new LHS. At times it is also easier to return a new release if it is faulty or defective. The US Distributor is based in Arizona: http://www.irc-racing.com The box does have a sticker providing "Product Not For Export Outside The U.S.A." The engine is a "Toki" and the stock transmitter reminds me of a Futaba clone if that helps for any more comparisons. However, I used my Futaba T3PK to run it today.

Regarding the Piktor, the photos I have seen of the Piktor Miwi show the fuel tank on the opposite side, a different type of fuel tank, a different chassis, a different head, etc.

TNB, tell me how the engine is as far as performance, reliability, any hassles. Need to get one!
I only ran one tank through it today, but it started right up. As mentioned earlier, the engine is a "Toki". I have read a few articles about the Toki heli engines--some good and some bad, which is kind of like some of the posts on a forum. Who knows how the "bad" ones were broken in.

That should also be some useful information for anyone racing at the 2006 Silver State Nitro Challenge March 29th-April 2nd. Entry is now closed--lots of pros on the list. Below is a photo of the track; however, the cross over will be gone by the time the race rolls around. For more photos other than the one below, visit http://www.vegasrc.com/PICTURES.html

Too late. Who cares. Just post some photos of your mini if you ever get one.

I was told 30-35, but most people exaggerate. There is also supposed to be an optional two-speed and an engine upgrade in the works. I'd think that should be plenty fast for any mini-track if the mph is correct. If anyone really wanted to go faster--brushless KMI. I may set it up with the Nomadio Sensor after break-in and after I receive some replacement parts--after all, I have yet to use the tach and I have several transceivers.

You ended up spending about $200 with the added cost of the shipping though, still not a bad deal I guess.

Granted that NB16 would be $159.99 plus $38.00 (shipping & handling), but another also sold on ebay for 170 Euros with 35 Euros in shipping (210 Euros = $252.44). I've also heard that the Vulcan was running $199 for a couple of days which would be a better deal than the ebay link you provided which is only $2 less, considering it would still come with the electronics. And since you didn't win the ebay sale and I didn't get the $199 deal, it doesn't really matter anyway. I also thought it was also very predictable that you would search eBay--I even typed up a response about it until I decided not to post it. The part about the Vulcan not being for export could simply be because of the electronics and the frequencies shipped; however, it does remind me of the Futaba T3PK--it can be purchased cheaper in Asia, however the overseas version doesn't come with the rechargeable batter pack, and is not warrantied in the US.

Actually, he didn't spend anything since he doesn't own a mini.

There is nothing to wait for--you already asked and I told you where to go. As far as that goes, you could have asked on a KMI thread. Instead, you choose to invade this thread. I'll [EDIT] the rest myself.

TNB-everybody that i've ever known that has had a Toki engine (and knew what they were doing-this doesn't count the goons that THINK they know) has loved it. I had an FR18 in my Revo for a while, and loved it (Fantom is manufactured by Toki).

Wasn't able to get a hold of my LHS today...but I should be leavin work around noon tomorrow, and I'll find out about 'em. If he won't get 'em, I'll have to resort to the internet (and not mayhem's lame Fleabay link)

thanks for the awesome insight to a sweet new productB-)

I've ran about three tanks through it so far--break in is "10" tanks. Still testing. Hopefully, I'll be able to run it on the offroad track this weekend.

TNB-more dumb questions

Could I run KMI wheels/tires on this thing? or are the rims at least the same size as the KMI's?

They front end is the same, but the CVD's won't work. The KMI a-arms are shorter

It is my understanding that the Vulcan and NB16 are made by the same company, but different. How much I don't know though the NB16 is ARTR, Vulcan RTR, and Vulcan SE RTR. The shock towers appear to have the same layout as the Kyosho Mini-Inferno and other parts are probably interchangeable; however, I have not torn apart one buggy just to see if parts will fit on the other. Quite frankly, I just want to finish breaking in the engine, so I can run it at one of the local offroad tracks.

I was also informed by one of IRC Racing's employees that:
there were a few people selling the NB16 on ebay for very cheap prices, but if you notice they are gone...there is a map pricing on these things, and they were not following it, two of those dealers are no longer selling the ACME products because of it.
I was further informed...
[ul][*] two speed will be available in about 2 weeks[*] the option engine is about 90 days out
[/ul]
