Associated RC18 MT dif gear stripping?
Hey guys I am a NOOB to RC'ing and I just got a Team Associated RC18MT and I love the truck, but I find that the differential gear (rear) strips out pretty easily. The factory replacement is only 3.99 but it is also plastic and thus strips out pretty easily also. Anyone know if there is maybe aluminum or metal replacements out there?
thanks in advance

Shim it so that there is no side to side play. The MIP super diff is also an excellent upgrade. It still uses the same gear but supports it better for less flexing. I have never stripped a diff in mine and I know a lot of people running very powerful BL setups that have not had any problems either. I would think you aren't getting a good mesh though and that is whats making them strip.

Yeah, something sounds fishy. New RC18s come pre-shimmed with 2 shims and pre-sleeved with the gold outdrive sleeves.
When you say it "strips out" do you mean that the adjusting hex screw strips the plastic threads in the opposite outdrive? That's the only thing that makes sense...
Either way, the MIP Super Diffs - http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...7579&cat_name= are highly recommended, all metal. There's also titanium - http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...6382&cat_name= and aluminum - http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...7095&cat_name= options, but MIP makes a great product. Might as well get the MIP CVDs - http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...7571&cat_name=
Shoot, just go here and browse for some hop-ups - http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...8T&action=list

I would rather have the superdiffs over the other ones. Cause there steel. The mip constant velocity drives (or cvds) are also good for when you go brushless.
If you are doing reverse to forward I wouldn't do that. I did that once, my diffs died first day.[&o]
